I've been diligently applying online for 6 months through indeed, zip recruiter, career builder, glassdoor...not only sending my resume, but cover letters as well. I have had COUNTLESS phone interviews, some followed by an in-person interview as well as in-person interviews alone. The interviews I have had, have been with some very prestigious companies. Obviously I have the skills, education and work experience that they are looking for..yet I have my interviews and they seem to go great but then I'm quickly back to square one. There have been many that say they will be in contact either way, and if I dont hear from them in the time "they" give me, I follow up once and surprisingly, MANY of them do not respond. I know not to be overbearing, but yet let the employers know I'm still interested. I know there will always be someone else who will outshine me and who has just a little bit more of what employers are looking for, but its getting very disheartening. What bothers me the most I believe, is the employers not being professional with their communication. But let it be a potential employee who runs late for an interview, etc. through no fault of their own, and the employer would be quick to look at someone as unreliable or unprofessional. I have driven as far as more than an hour each way for interviews and have made it clear that traveling for work is not an issue for me. I feel like I'm failing my children, because I am not at the point I was before where I have more than enough "just to get us by". Just when I think nothing will happen, it does..but then it falls through just as quick every time.
