To anyone who feels as if they are losing hope, or that nothing good is ever going to come their way, please keep pushing through. The past couple of months I have been beyond stressed and disappointed on my job hunt. I felt helpless countless amounts of time and I was so angry, but I never gave up and keep pushing because I KNEW that an opportunity was gonna open up for me. Before I knew it, I finally got the job that I wanted. I am beyond relieved and happy. I want everyone to just take this post into consideration if you feel like giving up. Keep thinking positive and keep looking, because there is going to be an opportunity that is perfect for you. It all just takes time.

I’m excited to announce that I am OFFICIALLY starting a contract to perm job tomorrow. I am even more excited that I will be given the top rate of $31/hr. It’s a little less than I was making before but I am so blessed to have a job. I still have a few pending/potential offers, but unless it’s a perm position making more money, I think I’m cool.
Update: Took a job shortly after this making about $43/hr
Thank you all for your support and kind words. I will keep you posted about any job changes.

I just started at a call center a few weeks ago and Ive got to admit Im really liking it so far. Ive worked all sorts of different places from fast food to a metal plant to dishwashing to retail and Ive never had a job that Ive liked as much as this one. So for those of you looking and having trouble finding a good job my advice is try a call center. The one I work for is results and when I go in to work every day I see nothing but smiling faces and happy employees. Now there are some people that just arent cut out for a desk job,but for what Im making starting out,the benefits they offer, and the companies efforts to keep happy employees with cautious optimism Id go so far as to say so far this is the best place Ive ever worked.

Been here for a little over 2 months. No luck Being a 54 year old Construction Project Manager is a drag, most of the times I get told "I have too much experience" other I get phone interviews and no call back I'd like to hear some success stories so I'm know I'm not spinning my wheels here
PS If your in California especially
Thanks Rick

Never before in my 66 years, that's 50 years of working life, have I been excited to attend orientation for a new job. But... this next Friday morning. :) It was a challenge, one I often thought about giving up, to find a job at my age. It was a frustrating, irritating, depressing endeavor. But persistence often overcomes many obstacles, I'm glad I learned this and I hope my success after a long period of failures will inspire or give hope to at least one of you. We are NOT too old. Our experience, life and work, IS worth a great deal. If you are looking for a job, hang in there. Never give up.

I was looking for a job for about a couple months. What I found is that having a resume that is targeted twards the job you are applying for shows the potential employer that you have experience in their field. I’ve been in the flooring trades since 1988 & I was hired to be a Territory Manager for a Tile Manufacture. I’m so happy & excited to get back to doing something that I love. Good luck to everyone out there looking for a job. Don’t give up & keep pushing for the job you want.

I had an interview in June, then trained 3 weeks in August, now I finally made it through flight attendant ground school training. It was hard, 21 began and only 10 of us graduated. I'll be doing my IOE in a few days and I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Thank you Jesus, I took a leap of faith and it's rewarding!!!

No more unemployment! Thank God I finally landed a job today.

As stated in a previous post during my job search ironically I had landed interviews with the top two highest paying jobs on the same day which in turn left me with quite a decision to make knowing one certainly wasn’t going to wait for the other. I ended up going with the higher paying of the two and I’ll tell you now I’ve jumped through so many hoops during this application process I may as well had turned into a basketball. Despite all that just this afternoon I got confrontation that HR is going to finalize everything necessary. In total it’s been about a month’s ordeal just getting to this point. It’s pretty much a life changing job seeing as it’s nearly a $6 raise for me! Now to put it out there I’m definitely not the type to be full of myself or be some pompous jerk thinking I’m better than anyone now. No not at all. It is a huge burden lifted but this did not just land in my lap. In fact I’ve applied to this company 6 times before fate had me run into an old friend who thankfully put in a recommendation which allowed me to go in and finally prove to them I am worth the investment regardless of lack of experience in the field. In my opinion it’s all about persistence and how you present yourself. And this time I can brag just a little and say I did pretty dam good. Super grateful!
