As a result of the #Coronavirus craziness, my neighborhood caught onto the trend of starting a group "WhatsApp" thread.
The purpose is to provide emotional support and ask for help if needed. A lot of neighbors have been offering to pick up groceries for one another and extending a helping hand with errands.
Many of these people I don't even know in person! But, it's a great feeling knowing that our little community is sticking together to tough out this scary time.

I wanted to pass this important article along! With the increased amount of folks working from home the next few weeks, there is a potential for rise in cyber attacks. Check out these tips for keeping yourself safe!

Trying for months to get a job. Lots of Distribution experience and IT, Quality. Been jerked around a few times with promises, or even offers after good interviews, then hear nothing. Yes I’ve followed up. Every interview says my resume is great and why am I applying for a lower position etc... well geniuses, maybe it’s because the higher positions aren’t choosing me and I need a job. I’m not afraid to work a ‘lower’ job. I’m broke now. I have nothing. Everyone says ‘anyone can get a job now’ and it’s not true. The lower level jobs either pay 1/4 of my former pay or they just don’t hire me because of my so called great resume. I’m so done with all of this.

I was laid off because they closed down

Was sick and timmy timed how long i was in the bathroom and counted how many times i went to the bathroom

There was nothing to love

So thrilled to hear Microsoft is ensuring all of its employees, including contractors, will have economic security during this uncertain time. "the 4,500 hourly employees who work in our facilities will continue to receive their regular wages even if their work hours are reduced." That is walking the walk! https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/05/microsoft-will-pay-hourly-workers-regularly-as-it-faces-coronavirus.html #peoplefirst

Thrilled to see #Microsoft walking the walk and taking care of their hourly support staff, many of who are contracted via vendor partners and not even direct Microsoft employees. Service and support workers are often beloved individually (who doesn't love the barista that makes your latte just right or the sandwich maker who cuts a perfect triangle for you) but invisible en masse. Especially important in cities where cost of living is already brutally high for many - Seattle and the Puget Sound area fit that bill. I hope others who are shuttering campuses consider these kind of actions. https://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2020/03/05/covid-19-microsoft-hourly-workers/ #covid19 #workfromhome #walkthewalk

In December 2019 my husband and I were told that after 20 years of working for a major dealership as IT Consultants that we were getting too old (65 and 67) and couldn’t give many more years of work as a younger worker could... We were in shock and many of the co workers and Managers were appalled to see us go because they said that our work was outstanding. Can we sue for age discrimination? It has been next to impossible to find jobs since then because the employers seem to be afraid of older workers. We just want to work and do not even ask for any benefits just a paycheck.

I retired precisely a year ago at 57, I took early retirement because I have young children, and did not want them to be down a parent. I am grateful that I had a opportunity to work at such a high level research institute. My spouse still works at the lab, not all the conditions are the same throughout PNNL and I was quite happy in research. It turned into a "insert favorite negative here" when they integrated the department I was in, into the business side of the lab. Your work can be great and contributing and I was quite happy for almost 10 years, my wife is still quite happy at PNNL. I have worked at many hi-tech company almost all are ones you heard of the last is not a opinion of someone who is new in the work environment.
