Without Accessibility there can be no Inclusivity.

Accessibility is demonstrated through an organization’s policies, the attitudes of its leaders, and the design of its physical and virtual spaces.

That includes but isn’t limited to ensuring that websites, apps, digital documents, and social media are accessible; that physical spaces are accessible with ramps and elevators, braille signage, and low-sensory spaces; and having meetings or events where captioning and disclosing the ingredients of food being served at work are the norm. #disability #jobs #togetherwecan

"Happy Monday" Dust off the weekend. It is time to look for that job you want/need. Did you know that it is a full time job to look for a full time job. I urge you to fill out as many job applications as you can for jobs that fit your interest, skills, and experience. Yes, many of those applications will be a waste of time but remember, you only need one to say yes to you. Please check out the group's job board. #AWU #disability #jobs #togetherwecan

The ideal length for a resume is one page if you have less than 10 years of work experience. If you have more than 10 years of work experience, a two-page resume is generally acceptable.

However, based on your experience, work history and job requirements, your resume’s length can be one page, two pages or more. It’s important to remember that your resume should be concise and easy to read so that potential employers can quickly understand your qualifications and experience. #AWU #togetherwecan

Which of these statistics makes you the angriest?

  • 91.6% of companies offer interview locations that are accessible.
  • 80.5% of companies offer accommodations for interviews.
  • 74% of companies offer job announcements that display nondiscrimination and equal opportunity policy statements.
  • 30.4% of companies offer an application process that is accessible to persons with disabilities.
  • 17.5% of companies actively recruit persons with disabilities.
  • 10.5% of companies have measurable goals for hiring persons with disabilities.
  • 4.2% of companies have a dedicated recruiter for recruiting people with disabilities.
  • 22.6% of companies say they currently employ at least one person with a disability.
  • 82.9% of companies say they offer voluntary and confidential self-disclosure.
  • 73.3% of companies offer stay at work and return to work programs.
  • 69.2% of companies offer workplace flexibility programs.
  • 64.7% of companies offer task shifting.
  • 59.6% of companies offer job reassignments.
  • 51.7% of companies offer disability awareness or sensitivity training.
  • 28.6% of companies offer measurable goals for retaining and advancing people with disabilities.
  • 4.7% of companies offer a disability employee resource or an affinity group.

For me its 17.5% of companies actively recruit persons with disabilities. 10.5% of companies have measurable goals for hiring persons with disabilities. Common! Only 17.5% actively recruit from our Community and only 10.5% have measurable goals to hire us.

My friends, above are the reasons why Abled Workers Unite is so important. Please, invite everyone you know who has a disability to our group so our group can have a voice that is listened to. With one loud voice, we cannot be ignored. Accessibility and Inclusion! we are not asking for a lot. Together We Can Make Effective Change! #disabilitly #AWU #togetherwecan

According to an article on the Federal Bar Association's site 22.6% of companies say they currently employ at least one person with a disability. That tells us that businesses as a whole are not Inclusive. We still have a long way to go! This is exactly why Abled Workers Unite was formed. We need one voice to effect change #disability #jobs #togetherwecan

Here in the United States it has been about the power of the people to effect change. Abled Workers Unite when it grows to expectations can exert that power to demand Accessibility and Inclusion. There is power with one voice of many. Please share our group's message. Together we will make a difference. #AWU #togetherwecan
