I was like go from my job on March 31st due to "budget cuts" . I have not been able to find a job since. I have applied for over 75 jobs since then and I get nothing or when I go for a second interview they end up canceling or not setting up a second interview. I feel like my previous job is sabotaging me because I'm suing them. Idk what to do anymore. #overqualified #underqualified #wordsofadvice #anyonehiringa40+yrold

With all these jobs out there, is there any way to "underqualify" yourself if someone were to say you're overqualified? I don't want to reduce or increase the years of research experience I have under my belt, otherwise, I would see myself as a fraud. For some positions that require up to 10 yrs of experience, what type of person are they looking for? Thanks in advance.

Have you ever gone online and you see a job that you really want and you look at the skills that the person that's hiring put up and you say oh I got the skills I can do this job and when you apply and you got a response back they just say you're overqualified I mean really do managers or owners of companies want under-qualified people?

I've held various "titles" in the 48 years of my life. Some, I've been very happy and successful with. Some, I agree I was not meant for. Finding a job these past few years have been like pulling teeth, (and these are the jobs I've been very suitable for) the jobs I've had, I was not suitable for, as I first had thought, yet these are the jobs I have been hired to do. ) I am a 48-year-old woman and have had all the good, the bad, and the ugly positions I never dreamed I would be hired for. The jobs I've been most passionate for AND schooled, and more than qualified for, I have not been accepted. I do not understand this. For various reasons, I've had too many "jobs" but not a career. I am more than qualified to do many things, yet the jobs I yearn for are 1) taking care of the elderly in Assisted Living, 2) caring for animals. I do not know what the interviewers want anymore with the variety of questions, and do not understand why they do not take my answers to heart. I am a honest, dedicated, creative, and accountable person. These are the jobs I've not been "qualified" for. I do not know what more these companies want, but if I were the interviewers, I would be hired on the spot. I want a job I can be happy with, muchless have a steady income that can support my family. I cannot give up and I wont. Yet sometimes I just want to throw in the towel. I need, like everyone else a paycheck, but more importantly, a CHANCE. It's very easy to be on the "tall" side of the desk with peoplehalf your age, do these people remember being on the low side of the desk???

Am just tired of job search. Its either you're over-qualified or under-qualified. What do employers want, really?? people are out there and competent to do the job, just give us the chance, this process makes you even questions your self confidence, it practically consumes your energy. I've been holding on for quiet sometime but it starting to get to me.

I finally found a position I have been trying to get into for years. I had th phone interview and now have a in person interview with the VP, the manager and lead. Now I feel that I am way under qualified especially looking at their profiles. I have a hard time articulating what I am trying to say and feel I am going to trip up and look like a fool. I want to cancel the interview any suggestions?

I found some jobs that I’m sure I can do but I don’t have all those years of experience they require on the job posting. Is it a good idea to go ahead and apply anyway or will my applications not even be considered? I have to find a job soon.

I left my state job 5 years ago to care for my children. I am 45 years old and looking and applying for jobs with no success. I am either under qualified or over qualified. I do hot fit in anywhere. I have not become discouraged :)
