Anyone have advice for my situation? The situation: I received unemployment back in 03/2020 (from an old employer) to 07/2020. Because of COVID I had to move back in with my parents...I decided to get a job near them. I did and everything was great up until Sept 11th. Where the doctor (this is dental practice) cussed at me, threw a sandwich at me, and then what got me to leave for good was: Him and my other supervisor cornered me so he could apologize. I ignored him and tried to keep talking and he flicks my ear hard. So hard I tell “don’t touch me” and it even startled me but he did it again. Mind you this ear hurts because I hear ringing in that ear. Anyway long story long.... I quit that job thinking well who in their right mind will say those were adequate working conditions. Nope Unemployment strikes saying that I have no proof and that I will get no money. After WEEKS of being on hold.
Is there anything I can do at this point. I’ve applied to jobs like crazy and swear I have proof where they just straight denying me. Please if anyone has information or lawyers info let me know #covid #benefits #eligibility

Oh my gosh that is horrible!! I am so sorry. Harassment is unacceptable. Perhaps you could try Legal Sheild. I know they offer pretty affordable rates although I haven't personally used them a friend of mine did. I am wishing you the best. As someone who has been sexually harassed myself I just want to tell you that you are VERY brave to stand up to them! Sending you a hug. I would also continue your job search for now and find something that works well for you! Check out these remote jobs.

I feel for you Arianna. My employer was not following CDC guidelines for COVID. There have been two OSHA complaints filed against them. Their answers to the complaints were not lies, but extremely misleading. My breaking point was when an employee (also the Union steward) that was positive for COVID was allowed to come to work outside of normal business hours. When I approached my boss on this, she became upset and screamed f-you at me in front of the entire office, twice. Her boss did nothing, the other managers did nothing and the union didn't care. After she screamed at me, I quit. I've also been denied unemployment because my employer stated that I walked out after having an argument with my manager. Along with my denial letter was an info sheet on how to get free legal advice. This was for Wisconsin only, it is called Legal Action of Wisconsin. Maybe they have something similar where you live? Good luck to you! I hope things get better.

As California battles an increasing a number of cases of COVID by the day they are becoming quite concerned over a new more infectious strain discovered in Europe and South Africa. This new strain has led government officials to renew lockdown measures across much of England.

According to the LA Times Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that he’s been having discussions with airlines and others about the potential for new quarantine protocols from people flying into California from the United Kingdom in an effort to keep the more contagious variant of the virus out of the state of California.

Newsom said the new strain of the coronavirus has not been detected in California, where thousands of viral samples are tested daily to identify mutations in the virus.

Dr. Mark Ghaly, the California health and human services secretary, said for COVID to enter a human cell, it needs to bind to a receptor, a sort of front door on a human cell. “And the new, mutated COVID virus seems to bind a little tighter, a little more easily and enter the cell of the human body easier than our current COVID virus that we have here primarily in California and the United States."

A big concern about the new variant is that it could, in theory, have genetic changes that might resist the vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna — both of which are being rolled out in the U.S. — as well as three others close behind them.

Read more concerning this article here.

Would you rather take the vaccine now OR wait until you can be sure it's effective against the new strain?

As a parent, the thought of protecting your child never leaves your mind. Not even for a second.

For parents in Los Angeles COVID is beginning to impact that protection.

According to the LA Times for several seconds, 8-year-old Xitlali Vasquez’s heart stopped beating. The girl’s parents had driven her to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in May when her temperature spiked and delirium sent her into a fever-sleep. She was placed in intensive care as specialists tended to inflammation around her heart and arteries.

Xitlali, is one of the first children in Los Angeles County to be diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a rare and potentially deadly illness known as MIS-C that infects children exposed to the coronavirus.

At this point in time at least 45 children in the county have been diagnosed with MIS-C, and one has died.

L.A. children are now battling a new syndrome linked to coronavirus. What is clear is that MIS-C cases are directly linked to a surge in COVID-19 infections — a correlation that doctors say could easily match up with a likely uptick around the holidays, given the ongoing spike in coronavirus cases.

In the last week, seven additional children have been diagnosed with the syndrome across the state, according to the California Department of Public Health.

Read the rest of the article here

Now more than ever it is important to wear a mask, wash your hands and stay home for the safety of yourself and your children.

How are YOU planning to keep your family safe this holiday season?

Ashley dear, if anything makes me nervous, is that the vaccine may not get to the general population soon enough.

To worry about the vaccine in the face of the pandemic is a penny wise but pound foolish hysteria. Not all human physiologies are exactly alike; there will be reactions. I had a flu vaccine leave me feeling like I had a bad flu, when the truth that is was only symptomatic, not the real infection.

Yes, antivaxxers blare the consequences of vaccine reactions, yet fail to see what will happen to those who refuse to vaccinate and eventually become infected. Something as seemingly simple as that childhood disease called measles can leave a patient bald, deaf, insane, or dead.

Increased world travel, migration, and retrograde health practices are causing a resurgence of deadly infections which not that long ago, we claimed that they belonged in a museum. We are staring at the tempest, thus it's about time that we knelt in prayer. Vaccinate.

I was fired after 5 years with a company for becoming ill due to Covid-19 in Aug. I was then approved for unemployment but they turned around the next week and switched my status to “under investigation” but no reasoning on why. It’s almost Jan 2021 and I still have yet to receive a penny of it. Is there anyone out there that can help? I have applied for tons of jobs but nobody is really hiring because of Covid-19 restrictions. #Help #NoChristmas #Struggle #COVID-19Sucks

Hi @Candace Mollette , there are several reasons why a claim is under investigation Claims investigator will update your claim when they have looked into the issue. The issue with waiting on an investigator to find time to re-visit your claim. Some of our members have shares success expediting their pending unemployment claims by contacting their local state representative. Do you know who your representative is?

I feel as though our government completely failed us during this pandemic. Meanwhile other countries have given their citizens some type of supplement income to help pay bills and keep things in order. Our states and country as a whole only gave us 1,200 dollars ONE time. Ppl still lost their homes lost their cars behind on bills hell I know ppl who bills still were cut off during this. Then u have some schools that are out due to the pandemic so it’s like do u stay home so ur kids doesn’t fail school or do u work to make sure it’s a roof over their head. While being worried about getting sick. It’s sad I’m praying for all of us because they def showed us this year they don’t care whatsoever what happens to none of us at all. #covid #coronavirus
