Do you have experience as a CPA? Do you love numbers and doing your taxes? If you’re a hard worker, have high expertise in US expat tax prep, work hard, and stay organized, this is a great opportunity for you.
Greenback Expat Tax Services is a company that specializes in preparing tax returns for Americans living overseas. We are a highly energetic, positive, and resourceful team working virtually across the globe. We believe that executional excellence is the key to success. We are currently seeking 5-10 Expat Tax Accountants (CPA or EA) to join our team!
At Greenback, we provide our US Expat Tax Accountants (CPA or EA) with the tools that they need to be successful and we bring our clients to them so that they can focus on preparing expat taxes and providing exceptional customer care!
About the role
This is not a traditional remote accounting JOB, it’s more like a business partnership. You would work with Greenback clients as an independent contractor and be paid for the clients that you complete. This role is ideal for US Expat Tax Accountants (CPA or EA) who love the idea of their earning potential being tied to their individual accomplishments, are obsessively organized, and have a natural flair for customer care.
What they're looking for
- CPAs or EAs with at least three years of experience preparing US expat tax returns, including specific experience with the additional forms and schedules required for expats (1116, 2555, FinCen 114, 5471, 3520, etc.).
- People who are comfortable managing their own schedule and workload. There are no set hours- you get paid for the work you do and your results. You take on as many customers as you choose (we pre-agree annual targets)
- People who see technology as an enabler and embrace it fully. We use state of the art systems (Salesforce, Box, ProSeries, and Lacerte).
- Accountants who are extremely organized, especially in managing around deadlines. This is a deadline-driven business, so anyone who gets frazzled near a tax deadline or disorganized will struggle.
- Strong attention to detail. Mistakes on tax returns are not cool. We need people who make sure there’s never an error or an oversight.
Why work with Greenback?
Again, this is not a traditional 9-to-5 accounting job. No one has set hours – you have specific responsibilities and obligations related to customer care timeliness. Still, it’s up to you to set a schedule that meets those timings. No office/no commute. You have the ultimate flexibility to decide where you work from and when you work – beyond even your standard work-from-home accounting job. Want to spend tax season in your home office and the slower season working a lighter load from Mexico, Bali, or the coast of Spain? Many on our team do just that!
You get paid directly in proportion to how many tax returns you complete. Your earning potential is unlimited and a good number of the accountants on our team earn six figures.
We have frequent bonus opportunities for excellence in staying organized, timeliness, and attention to detail. We’ve heard our accountants described as “personal tax time heroes” – we compensate accountants above the standard per return and pay for above and beyond customer care This remote accounting job is an ideal fit for people who are happy to work on their own, but don’t want to manage the business logistics like marketing, customer acquisition, billing, customer service, etc.

I’m in give up mode. I’m a CPA with decades of experience.. primarily in tax and with large and small business and individual clients. I’ve been working for peanuts for the past few years as my full-time job morphed into a sometime job. I’ve been working for a staffing company as a waiter or bartender to get by, but the money is minuscule. I’m pretty sure it’s my age, but I can’t even get an interview. Working on my QuickBooks Pro Desktop certification.. already certified as a QBO PRO advisor. Probably won’t help. So much for 3% unemployment. I seem to be perpetually unemployable, despite my certification, experience and skills. Getting jaded.

i’ve been a temp in San Diego, CA for over 10 years. I can’t say it’s age, but i’m a young 56y female, never had kids. I’m in bad financial shape again!! Went back to school and graduated w/2 masters and passed CPA in 2014. took me 2 years to get job to get licensed. License requires 1 year work under CPA before getting licensed. I hate San Diego. I hate Robert Half temp agency. Looking to move back to D.C. where govt creates abundance of jobs.

I worked for various accounting firms and the audit deptment of State Street Bank & Trust. I prepared and completed audits in the USA, Canada and Virgin Islands. As a partner in a CPA firm I went to colleges to pick out the best students I have been a CPA since 1972. I went to college for many years but never finished for a degree other than a certificate in accounting. My life was very busy! All my life I was in charge of people.

I want to work at something. I have worked since I was 12 years old. Even at 12 years old I work full time. VEG FARM. I worked 3 jobs when went to college. Even at my age I think I will do equal to anyone else. As a CPA I had client doing almost $1,000,000.

"The accounting world is a crazy place with tons of language, numbers and acronyms. I’ve been trying to learn more about accounting, as a career path, and I stumbled on this video explaining the difference between EA’s and CPA’s, and I thought I would pass it along! https://www.facebook.com/HawkinsMartinezEAsLLC/videos/494842024058197/
