Show my lady and I were transferred out here from California to Odessa Texas to be the GMs at the Midland and Odessa Wienerschnitzels. And so we uproot the family pack everything we have to move out here and make a life, we get out here but our boss doesn't show up nor does any of his Representatives to help with the transition and let the previous GMS know what's going on. We take over the stores all the equipment is broken. Both stores needed at least $13,000 worth of equipment and repairs just to get them up to standard. So we go through we straighten everything up try to get people trained properly and inform the boss of all the equipment and other issues that are needed to be handled in order to get the stores up to par. Less than 2 months later without saying anything to us he decides he's going to sell both stores and the new owners come in with final checks for us and tell us both that we are no longer needed. So now we're both looking for work driving for Uber trying to make rent and be able to take care of our 8-year-old boy and our 2-year-old granddaughter. Still haven't heard anything from our old boss he refuses to answer any of our calls or messages or emails so I'm just flabbergasted by the whole situation

I was floored to see the results of my background check today. Luckily it wasnt serious but it easily could be! They listed "aliases" I have NEVER used. I was listed as both living in places I never lived, and for those where I have lived there were significant errors.

I dont understand how companies like this and the credit rating companies can get away with things like this and not be held liable for such false information. Also why is it incumbent on me to correct their mistakes and not on them to ensure the information they collect is accurate to begin with?

This is a real eye opener that is going to cause more problems with the passing year as the "algorithm" drives decisions. If you really want to screw someone over, move to the same county with the same name as someone else and get a court conviction. Chances are it will show up on their background check also. #backgroundcheck #advice #jobsearch

A “tag” question walked into a bar, didn’t she?

I don’t know. No one paid attention to her!

♦️Tag questions occur when we add a question to the end of a declarative sentence.

♦️If we want to project confidence/personal authority and expect others to listen to us, avoiding tag questions is key.

Consider this 🤔:

I was about to present at an international conference in Buenos Aires.

500 attendees took seats toward the rear of the auditorium leaving the first several rows empty.

(I find it disconcerting to speak to empty rows of seats🪑🪑🪑🪑🪑 right in front of me.)

“Please move up and fill in the front rows, alright?” I begged.

To my dismay, NO ONE MOVED. Yikes. 😳 Now what do I do?

“That did not work out well. Let me rephrase,” I said humorously after recovering my poise. “I’ll begin when the front rows are filled in. Move up!”

Approximately 50 people moved up to the front. I took that as a win. 🙌

Let’s maximize our impact with assertive communication:

❌ It’s already 9:05 A.M. We should start the meeting, shouldn’t we?

❌ We have a lot to cover today so we’ll take a one hour lunch break, O.K?”

By saying, “shouldn’t we?” and “O.K?” I told my team I’m unsure of myself and my position.

I diminished my credibility. Why not maximize it?

✔️ It’s 9:05 A.M. Let’s start the meeting.

✔️ We have a lot to discuss. We’ll take a one hour lunch break.

Eliminating tag questions may take practice. It’s worth it. You will sound more assertive and confident.

Lot of entry level position don't require experience. Also grocery store, retail store, restaurants hire folks with no experience.
