A few months ago I got hired at a grocery store as a retail clerk- now I feel the need to say that I don't mind retail itself, even as a first job- but there are several problems. Firstly, I only took the job because I was told I'd be full time. 35+ hours a week. This week, I only work 7.5 hours and on a Saturday. I have only had three, maybe four days where I worked a full eight. (8.5, as lunches aren't paid). Putting that aside, my managers don't seem to care. We'll take meat that has sat out in a car overnight. I've personally returned beef to the meat department, telling them it was shrink because it was sitting out for god knows how long and warm, and watched them place it back on the shelf. I've witnessed the produce manager do the 'cheek test' on warm salad dressing that's supposed to be cold and say it was fine enough to sell again. I live in an open carry state, but the store itself doesn't allow guns in the vicinity and employees are encouraged to tell acting store management about people carrying. As a POC, I feel very uncomfortable around people that carry despite the sign on the store door blatantly saying not to, so I'm often the one to report these situations. Each time I've done so has gone ignored by not one or even two store managers, but THREE. Two assistants and the store manager himself. A department manager often talks to me as though I'm incompetent when something is not 'store new' perfect and when I reported this, a store assistant manager said "Well, have fun!" and then left because their shift was over. It's my first job and there aren't many opportunities in my area and I'm unable to drive to another location because I don't make enough to afford a car. Is there any advice? The store doesn't care and neither do family members. I don't know what else I should do. I don't even care that the store is hurting my mental health at this point. #advice #retail #stressful #help

Like the empty sky: no boundaries. But it is right here, profound and clear.

Yep. No fear. Dont mind tiny Tim. He just mad. He wanted ice cream and got a porcelain swirly instead.

I've been on leave from work since covid started due to complications with breathing and such. I finally got the OK from my doctor to go back as the policy where I work had changed to be able to accommodate me recently. She was able to write me a note that I'm able to go back to work, but they require a note stating that I was out for the whole time. I'm guessing that it was due to at the beginning, it had pulled unpaid time off and it went into the negative. Its done that twice and I was working part way through with -UPT at the very beginning of the covid thing when I first got it, I've gone to a few different doctors and specialists, and every single one says that they cant back date a note that far. Has anyone had experience with dealing with this sort of thing? I love my job, I've been there almost 5 years. If I have to start over its going to be probably at minimum wage and where I cant get enough hours to survive. I'm hoping to not have to fight them to just keep my job. They haven't fired me, I'm still fully in the system. I'm starting to drown here and am in danger of losing my place to live. Anyone have any decent ideas on how to save this job? I REALLY don't want to have to start over, Ill lose my pay and my stocks. I'm so stressed, I may have forgot some more details, so feel free to ask anything that I may have left out. Thanks so much! #coronavirus #backtowork #help

so you did not inform them of you having covid. you used un paid time off, i here this over and over again. you should had done the proper protocol as your job requires. they did require a note that you were out of work the whole time due to covid. you also had complications due to other aliments , which caused your infliction to be much worse. you can have that same doctor document your health problems. they can provide the point of affliction and i would have him send email. that will be proof if there is a problem in a nice way with no hard feelings. No HARM NO FOLLOW.

Warehouse at Amazon

Yeah, I had sent them an email last week, and I started back again this week. That was nice. But now the UPT and my job is in a case while they decide how to handle it. It wasnt supposed to pull UPT as I was on a medical leave but it did anyways. Very odd.

WANNA GET HIRED? Here’s what you need;

Less IS more. 6 things you need FOR SURE on your resume and WHAT goes in each section.

1.) CONTACT and name. Yes. Contact. The employer needs to see where they can reach you to hire you!

2.) Your work experience. Well that’s pretty self explanatory.

3.) School experience! Add add add!

4.) Skills! What makes you YOU!
