With our economy the way it is you need to present both sides of the scale equally education is important and experience is also important. Take a look at your resume are you equally representing your work experience as well às your education.

@Sleet Gnome, My wife is a social worker, I hear a few things about this sector.. There are many jobs open with your profile, although I think it implies a more elaborate search on your side than other types of jobs

You can do: Assistant and intake specialist for social workers and various support roles in educational, healthcare companies, Charity Foundations, Crisis Hotlines, Senior citizens, Felons help-oriented companies, and legal firms. For social work assistance, it may be harder to find than other jobs since typically, job boards with social work offers are for clinical or licensed social workers so I would first google companies that hire social workers and human service support in the mentioned niches.. Obviously, you also have Government Social Services with an easier,m more concentrated offer.

You can also get some help from the national social workers Association https://www.socialworkers.org/

I read this inspiring article about 88 year old Hester Davis, who works as a case worker at the Youth One Stop Career Shop in Newark, #NewJersey.

Davis, who turns 89 in June, is celebrating her 50th anniversary with NJ Department of Labor. Way to go, Hester!!

I have been interviewed by the same organization THREE times and each time I have been denied because my "interview score" was not high enough. This is an organization that deals with addicts. I was an addict for over 25 years and I have been clean for 11 years. In that time, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Services & Counseling with a 3.88 G.P.A. I know all the lies, manipulations, and fake tales of needing money to help pay bills only to use that money to support my habit. I say to h### with an interview score and hire me for my experiences as an addict!!!! I am 63 years old with no mental incapacities, which leads me to believe my age is playing a factor in the hiring process but, I have no way proving that. I am considering leaving my home state(KY) and seek employment elsewhere. Any thoughts?

I admire the day when people could work 1 job and pay their bills, save, invest and take a yearly vacation. Living in New York has gotten so expensive. I am currently looking for work, but jobs in the Human Service Field…like case management are barely paying enough to keep a person alive. The cost of living is raising ( feels like every year). I am hopeful, but I cannot imagine what this world will look like for our children.

I am a student at a community college at age 63. Working on an associate degree for human services. The problem I'm having is I have put five resumes in and no one is calling back, even after the few interviews I have did. One is in dire need of relief help as what I applied for. They have said corie check is 1-3 weeks, it is going on five weeks and they claim they still haven't heard back from the check. In the mean time I'm jobless and money is slowly going down.I think it might be the age and they can't tell me this. I don't know if it's worth it to continue school any more? I have been semi retired from trucking for a few years before going to school last January (2016).
