The interview question "What motivates you?" is a common question. It's a straight forward way to ask a candidate what they value, what purposes drive them, and what they find inspiring.
Motivation is that special "something" that makes you inspired to achieve your goals or complete your tasks.
Most hiring managers are looking to see that a job candidate has an inner drive that helps fuel them. In other words that you are not working just for a paycheck because everyone works for that. So what separates you from the other candidates? Your "Inner Drive" is what they want to hear about when asked this question.

A lot of us here on Jobcase have posted about the best ways to navigate an interview and answer some of the difficult questions that recruiters and hiring managers want to know the answers to because they want to know if they're investment in us as an employee will yield positive returns.
Richard McMunn of YouTube's Career Vidz channel has some terrific answers to many of the questions that are most commonly asked by interviewers, regardless of whether the nature of the role being applied for is at a Corporate level or Field position.
I really appreciated that he doesn't just tell you to "give examples of" certain things, he demonstrates how to respond. He presents himself as confident, knowledgeable about the business and the role he's applying for and is able to provide examples of how his relevant experience and skills will be a good investment for the company should they choose to hire him. He also has a vision of where he wants to be in the future and can answer the question "Where do you see yourself in five years?" with a clear explanation of how he plans to achieve that vision.
I encourage you to watch through the whole video with a pen and paper. As you listen to each answer he provides, convert it into language that fits your particular circumstance and your relevant skills and experience. Think about examples you can provide an interviewer and write those down. Then, have somebody you're comfortable with ask you those questions and practice giving your answers until they are authentic, fluid and natural. This method will work really well for those who have a tendency to struggle through video interviews as well. If you scroll down through the description you can find all 21 questions.
One thing I noticed when I recently went to a job fair to support a friend, was that many of the candidates who were able to sit down for a few moments and skillfully answer specific interview questions in that short period of time were being given opportunities on the spot for a second interview where others were not.
