Before applying for an office manager job, consider the following:

1.	Job Description: Understand the specific responsibilities. Office manager duties can vary widely based on the industry, company size, and company culture.
2.	Skills:
•	Organizational Skills: Managing supplies, booking meetings, coordinating events, and maintaining office protocols.
•	Communication Skills: Effective communication with staff, vendors, and executives is crucial.
•	Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and often industry-specific software.
3.	Experience: Some positions may require previous experience in a similar role or in administrative tasks.
4.	Certifications: While not always required, certifications like the Certified Manager (CM) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) can be advantageous.
5.	Company Culture: Research the company to determine if you’d be a good fit. The role of an office manager can be significantly influenced by company culture.
6.	Leadership & Problem-Solving: As you’ll often serve as a point of reference for queries and issues, it’s crucial to handle conflicts and provide solutions.
7.	Budgeting: Some office manager roles may require budget management, tracking office expenses, and negotiating with vendors.
8.	Adaptability: Office managers frequently juggle multiple tasks and should be able to adapt to changing priorities.
9.	Confidentiality: You may handle sensitive information and must maintain confidentiality.
10.	HR Duties: Some roles include HR tasks such as recruitment, onboarding, and maintaining employee records.
11.	Physical Requirements: Be aware of any physical tasks like lifting boxes or arranging furniture.
12.	Professional Development: Consider if you’re willing to take courses or attend workshops to stay updated in the field.
13.	Salary Expectations: Research typical salaries for office managers in your area and industry to ensure your expectations align with market rates.
14.	References: Ensure your references are aware you’re applying and can vouch for your qualifications and work ethic.
15.	Soft Skills: Attributes like a positive attitude, patience, and a service-oriented mindset can be essential.

Before applying, tailor your resume to highlight relevant skills and experiences, and be prepared to provide examples of past accomplishments during interviews.

In the year 2022, we find ourselves more connected than ever, due to social media and the internet. My parents, some aunts and uncles and even friends have found themselves not really trusting social media because they've heard about awful experiences some have had.

But, if we spend so much of our time on the internet, talking to people, looking for jobs, doing our jobs, why not use it to our advantage?

Check out @Kai Dickerson article on How your social media activity impacts your job search.

Find out how having a positive social media presence (and a Jobcase account!), can be used to elevate you! #jobsearch #socialmedia #jobapplication

A career mentor once ask me "what is the point of going through an interview, if you don’t get to ask questions of your own?". Her point of view was that sometimes asking the interviewer questions about:

  • Company culture
  • Team dynamics
  • Manager benchmarks

DURING the interview is the only time you’ll get the chance to know if you truly want the job before the job is offered to you, because you get to compare your expectations with reality. From there you can make a decision on whether you liked the environment described or not. Remember, it’s not just the company making a decision here, you are too.

Want to know what questions are good to ask, during an interview? Check out this article @Jennifer Young posted about 20 smart questions to ask a hiring manager , to get you started! #interview #interviewquestions #gettinghired #interviewprocess #application #jobapplication

I have been working for almost 20 years, and the one thing that has been a constant from that first job as a Cashier at Bruegger’s Bagels to now, is the request for job references. In my experience, 9/10 if an application asks for a reference or two, and you are one of the top candidates for the job that potential employer will make the calls. This is why I have always made it a case to do my job well, but also build good rapport with team members and supervisors. These are some of the best people that can help vouch for you, which is why having references is so important.

Wanna know how to identify and ask people to be your references?

Check out this article @Michael Frash posted on Five ways to ask for a job reference #reference #jobreference #askforreference #jobsearch #jobapplication

You might assume that you have to meet every single requirement on a job positing in order to apply, but you really don’t!

The general rule of thumb is that if you meet 7 out of 10 requirements on a posting, and you’re very interested in the job, YOU SHOULD APPLY!

Check out these tips for applying to a job when you don’t meet all of the requirements 🙌

So, who here thinks its redundant that a employer expects you to not only supply a resume, but also fill out the very same information in application form? Kind of a waste of resources and time. It should be one or the other. Not both.

I am a 17 year old female in highschool, graduate of 2019. I regret to say that I have no experience with a job due to no time with my education. I am willing to put time and much effort into working efficiently while juggling school like a pro #jobsearch #jobapplication #experience #highschool
