2 examples why you can't let #ageism stop you from your next job

Reports of ageism have gone up massively since covid changed "normal life" for everyone. And we see how age discrimination effects people everyday in this community.

That's why I want to take this moment to celebrate the Jobcase community - and these 2 success stories:

  1. @Dinah Junek "I'm sure there are places that don't hire older ones. You know what I say it's their loss!! Keep trying #advice"
Connect with Dinah at this post

  2. @Stephen Blette just landed a job with Aflac and said, "our work ethic it’s better than these millennials and gen zee"
Say hi to Steven on his post here

I kept reading and hearing how it was going to be difficult to get a job in IT at 61. Especially when i was looking for something geared more for the PC side and not Infrastructure side....that Id be too over qualified as well. Well - after 37 years in IT/networking my last company of 15 years outsourced our team over seas. I took a few months to look around, apply and then hit it hard. I was offered a job yesterday that fits what I'm looking for and pay nearly what I made prior. So dont feed into the negativity. Create a plan- refine your resume, search for work and stop believing that negative stuff. If you are hire-able you will get opportunities. If you are not hire-able then put a goal and plan together to make yourself hire -able. You'll feel better for doing it.

I’ve been unemployed since mid April but starting new job 11/1. Georgia DOL had not paid me my unemployment for mid April thru mid June. After numerous emails and phone calls, I was finally able to secure the $$ today. Advice - be persistent - phone calls, emails, schedule appts with case workers, contact your local state congressman, pray!

Hired at 73. United Healthcare hired me at 73 years old. And they are hiring now. I work from home, 40 hours a week. The job ain’t easy but they don’t discriminate because of age.
