Today the state of Texas is opening up at 100% along with no state mask mandate, it's up to businesses to enforce mask usage if they want to. How would you feel if your state opened back up to 100% without a mask mandate? Would you go back to work quicker if this was the case?

Hallmark in Houston, TX is looking for a part-time Retail Merchandiser!

In this role you will be servicing various Hallmark departments within stores; you will not be working in a Hallmark store.

About the role

This is your opportunity to represent the world's best-known greeting card brand and develop retailer relationships in your community. Hallmark provides paid training, paid travel time and mileage reimbursement between stores and access to a variety of corporate discounts.

There are three major components of this PART-TIME position:

Product merchandising:

You will handle all aspects of product merchandising within your assigned stores. You will use a Hallmark-issued, hand-held mobile device to replenish, straighten and track inventory of Hallmark products. This could include products placed inside the Hallmark department or within other areas of the store.

Store employee and customer interaction:

You must interact in a professional manner with store employees, store management and customers while in the store. Schedule: Your Territory Supervisor will clarify your specific schedule. Work is typically scheduled Monday through Friday during the day and hours will increase during holiday periods.

Holiday Support:

Hallmark's business is season driven. Your scheduled days and hours will increase the week before and after the following holidays - Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. You may be required to work on the actual holiday for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Department Remodels and Resets:

Occasionally, you may be required to be a part of an installation team and work on activities to include, but not limited to, building Hallmark fixtures, moving card departments, installing fixtures and product and remodeling card departments. Typically you will receive at least a 2-week notice for remodel/reset work.

Physical requirements

This is a physically demanding job that requires a high level of energy and a sense of urgency. You will be working on the selling floor as well as in back stockrooms. You must be able to consistently push, pull, lift, and carry cartons, merchandise and display fixtures up to 30 pounds throughout the work day and up to 50 pounds on occasion. You will also be required to stoop, squat, walk, and stand throughout your work day, and you may be required to climb stairs and step ladders.

Construction projects on solar farms underway will provide 500 or more jobs and electricity for North and Central Texas!

McCarthy Building Companies has been selected by Lightsource bp as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for two utility-scale solar farms in Ellis and Navarro counties.

Construction of the two projects recently began and is slated to be complete in September, with commercial operations of both solar farms expected by late 2021. The energy produced will offset greenhouse gas emissions by a total of 370,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.

McCarthy’s Renewable Energy & Storage team plans to hire approximately 500 craft workers to construct the two projects — the majority of whom are being recruited from the local region and the military veteran community, as part of its new veteran recruitment program — and will train laborers seeking utility-scale solar construction experience.

Area residents and military veterans interested in working on one of these solar projects should visit this page, and select the city where the project is located to find job postings for positions ranging from entry level to experienced, including laborer, operator, crew lead, electrician and journeyman electrician.

“We are grateful to be part of bringing clean energy and jobs to these Texas communities,” said Scott Canada, executive vice president of McCarthy’s Renewable Energy & Storage team.

Need a ride to get a vaccine? Uber (and Lyft) have you covered!

Did you know that 45% of Americans do not have access to public transportation at this time?

In an effort to help those who wish to get vaccinated Uber said last week that it has partnered with retail pharmacy chain Walgreens to offer FREE transportation to its locations and offsite vaccination clinics in cities such as Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and more!

The initiative comes after Uber pledged in December to offer 10 million free or discounted rides to assure that “transportation is not a barrier to getting the [Covid-19] vaccine.”

Uber partners with a number of health systems, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans to move their 65+ members. These health care organizations can call, schedule, and pay for rides to vaccine appointments on behalf of their patients and those covered by government health programs, adding that riders do not need an app or a smartphone.

Read more about this here on NBC news.
