Must Read Without Failure.
Through much experience in life, we all know that we place people, places and things on the top of our priority list for things to do.
That's okay! Now I am encouraging you to place your NAME at the top of your priority list.
Your first and best priority of all-time should be YOU. That means...trusting and loving yourself dearly, then acting accordingly.
Then everything else will fall-in-place for you and your loved ones as well.
I Believe You Can...!

Lock Out Tag Out
Here’s a video of a brief explanation of how to conduct a “Lock-Out,Tag-Out” procedure. If you decide to work in a warehouse and it’s a manufacturing facility, you’ll want to know what a “Lock-Out,Tag-Out” procedure is. 10 times out of 10, a manufacturing plant will have machines that will need to be locked out for preventative maintenance. 🔐
Even if you have no experience as a machine operator, you’ll get brownie points at an interview for mentioning and explaining this procedure. You’ll demonstrate that safety is your number one priority, and you can hit the ground running with minimal training. I’m telling you from my own experience, interviewers love to hear that candidates have extensive knowledge in safety. ✅

Warehouse Safety Tips
Here’s a short video on warehouse safety tips. I used to work in warehouses for 15+ years and did everything from lumping to management. One factor that always got me a job offer was my extensive knowledge in safety. I used to really love doing a walk-through in a warehouse for my interviews because I could point out safety hazards immediately. If a fire extinguisher or a exit was blocked, I would mention that. 🧯
If you’re interested in getting into the warehouse industry, I highly recommend learning about OSHA regulations and best safe practices. Safety will get you into a leadership position and possibly even a safety coordinator position if you’re willing to get certified. Keep in mind safety is the number one priority in any warehouse, and once management recognizes you understand this, they will put you as their top candidate. 🚧

A Career in Warehouse Distribution
Here’s a video on what day to day operations are like in a warehouse distribution center. This is a great video because it demonstrates on what the training is like for an order filler. ✅
This video also shows all the career growth opportunities that will allow an employee to move up or lateral. One thing about the warehouse industry is that there are plenty of opportunities for career growth. Some companies will even provide tuition reimbursement for employees that want to earn a degree or certificate. ✅
I worked in the warehouse industry for 15+ years and I have to say that starting from the bottom can be grueling, but it can pay dividends if the company you work takes care of their employees. ✅

Southwire Company
Southwire Company is a great company if you are interested in working in the warehouse industry. I worked here from 2014-2017 as a Warehouse Specialist running copper and aluminum cable wire onto wooden reels. When I was working there, warehouse employees were making $65K annually. Southwire also paid for my two Business degrees and two professional certifications with their tuition reimbursement program. ✅
Southwire also likes to promote internally and posts job openings in their job board. They have facilities in California, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Indianapolis, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. You can relocate to any of these facilities if you ever want a change of scenery. ✅
Southwire prides themselves on a safety culture and takes care of their employees when they are in need. I recall a time when an employee got into an accident on his motorcycle and when he came back to work, they gave him a $10,000 dollar check to help out with his bills. Southwire is a privately owned company that generates 6 billion in revenue annually so they like to pay their employees well because they want the best of the best to work for them. ✅
I recommend if you live near a Southwire facility, apply on their website. Any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to drop a comment. ⤵️

Should You Work in a Warehouse
Here’s a video of a YouTuber explaining the Pros and Cons of working in a warehouse. As a former warehouse worker for 15+ years, this gentleman is spot on in elaborating on what it’s like to work in a warehouse. 🦺
Some positives of working in a warehouse are; easy to get in to, overtime, benefits, felony friendly, and opportunities for growth. ✅
Some negatives are; laborious, demanding, low wages, cap on salary, and in some cases there can be glass ceilings. ❌
I did a lot of warehouse work because I was in and out of prison and these types of jobs were the only ones employing felons. I did work my way up from a lumper to management. I also took advantage of a tuition reimbursement program earning two business degrees and two professional certifications which was life changing for me. If you’re going to work in a warehouse take advantage of any opportunities you see such as a tuition reimbursement program, or the opportunity to move up to a leadership position. Lateral moves to another department can also be beneficial. 👨🎓

Order Filling Process
Here’s a quick video on what it’s like to be an order filler in the warehouse. I used to do this when I first started working in the warehouse industry. This position is the next level up from unloading containers by hand.
Order filling can be done on a pallet jack, forklift, stand-up forklift, or a cherry picker. Depending on what you’re picking, this position can be really easy or very grueling. There are some companies that require full pallets to be picked or individual items from the pallet itself. But here’s an employee demonstrating a day in the life of an order filler.
