My July is quiet as well. Lots of coworkers take time off so I had to cover for them. Feeling pretty productive. I look forward to my vacation in August!

July felt like it flew by, but it was definitely productive! With two jobs, I never feel like there is a dull or boring moment! I got to see some aerial performers at work, who juggled and danced while suspended over the Grant Park Orchestra Stage, with the Orchestra playing below! It was incredibly cool and a once in a lifetime show. Both of my jobs have their perks for sure!! πŸ’–πŸ€Ήβ€β™€οΈπŸŽΆπŸ’ƒβ€οΈπŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ’œ

β˜€οΈ Patio season is in full swing once again! β˜€οΈ Time to battle the blazing sun, impossible umbrella positioning β›±, and any critters 🐜 πŸ‰ enticed by crumbs that dare invade your sovereign patio territory!!

My current job is at an outdoor music venue, but in the past I’ve spent most summers working the patio shift at whichever brewery 🍺 employed me at the time. There are certainly benefits to working outside, and fresh air can mean some pretty fresh tips πŸ’Έ as well! But obviously the sunburn, dehydration, running farther from the kitchen to deliver plates, and more intensive set up/ clean up - can all be more challenging than working indoors. 🍽

Would you rather work inside with air-conditioning on a slow shift or would you rather run around outside in the heat and make big tips?? 🌞 πŸ”₯ πŸ’¨ πŸ” 🍻

I am an Usher for a large Park downtown! I get to help folks have a great time listening to classical music performed outdoors and answer endless questions(usually about where the bathroom is!). It's definitely a job for an extrovert (which I am not, but thats okay, I'm close enough)! I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to go to concerts for fun! 🎢 🎡 🎢

One thing you’ll hear a lot of servers and bartenders talking about is their β€œRegulars”. These are patrons that come in often who develop long term personal relationships with the staff, and usually have some rituals related to your establishment (ex. favorite drink 🍹 or treat πŸ” 🍰 they order weekly). Sometimes a true friendship can develop, and even carry over outside of the restaurant. Sometimes the person is friends with management or the owner - and they usually expect certain β€œperks”, but mostly these warm friendships are mutually beneficial to everyone and keep the restaurant running! I’ve worked at a small neighborhood brewery that had a lot of these folks come in and I cherished those relationships! πŸ’ž πŸ₯‚ πŸ’ž 🍻 πŸ’ž

There are other restaurants though that do a lot of high volume, turn and burn, constant business - with a lot of clientele. Large groups like schools and birthday parties come through, or the location is in a tourist area where there is a bigger customer base but a transient one. These places offer a chance to start fresh with each table almost every time! πŸ’« πŸ’« πŸ’«

Would you rather meet as many new people as possible at work or build longer relationships with those in your neighborhood??
