I work for a large Technical Engineering firm, and I’m the office admin. This company fired the Sales Manager and gave me all of the responsibilities and duties, during this time my supervisor has been misleading me saying that they will hire to replace the sales manager. Two years later, I’m still “covering” the sales position with no promotion, nor fair compensation in plans, whatsoever. My supervisor created a whole new position to hire a technical sales person, but hasn’t mentioned that they would be taking over. So now I’m still there, doing two people’s job. Meanwhile, when something in sales goes wrong, I’m the single person they blame! Almost all management staff are horrendous leaders. I would love to get another job but the current job market pays way below my pay grade now.

What can I do??

My friend recently experienced discrimination at their current job due to their Latin/Hispanic background. How did you do or think it should be handled?

So I started working 3 months ago at home and security where they do processing for illegals. The company's name is deployed services they have a contract with border patrol I'm a transgender woman and ever sin they started I I got noticed by my supervisor. A hard worker and I I got recommended to move Move up to be promoted. I had a phone interview. So I followed up and they said because I was not bilingual but on other shifts. They have 3 to 4 supervisors that are not bilingual. So then I applied again and still nothing I? Take it up with HR on March 15th was the last response. I got from hers telling me that she would look into it so then as of April 5th 2023. I got a call from HR which is from Arizona. I'm in California and I was put on leave because I got into an argument with another CO worker and they said they were investigating. I feel treated very Unfair I have asked for agreements and they've yet to reply. They will not give me an update on this investigation and since I mentioned that I wanted to seek out a attorney. That HR said they would not speak to me anymore at this point. I just feel just so discriminated I don't know what to do. I'm a good person. I'm a hard worker and I get along with everybody. I face the world every day? What being discriminated against and I can. Handle? That that's OK cause I have no control of other people's actions but at my work. It's i'm treated very unfair and I need help #Discrimination #Transgender #Laborlaws #Californiallaws #advice #termination

My experience is that you have to put it in writing. Verbal complaint there is no record if the company neglects to do anything about it or the company has the chance to become aggressive against you with no proof to protect yourself with.

Yeah I've been there I'm an older woman and because I get disability for me it's a mental thing for my disability and I've had a lot of people turn me away for jobs as well because I've been trying to go back to work part time and it hasn't been working out so people do stuff to intimidate me and irritate me so I won't continue the job but I know how she feels and it's also have been a thing dealing with the color of my skin because I'm black I've had some issues with that as well so I know how she feel that's why we have to keep it in God's hands got to fix it and he will put her in the position that she's supposed to be in don't let nobody stop you from trying to do what you trying to do for yourself or your family my children are grown so I'm trying to do for myself I'm trying to take care of me now and it's been very hard and very difficult especially I don't have a car and I have to ride the bus or do a uber and that's hard as well but I just want you to keep your head up #discrimination

My employer has always cut corners and has done things off the books. We are always expected to use our own vehicles to transport our drivers. We've never once been asked to provide proof of a Valid ID or proof of insurance. We have also spent the past two years paying for the gas to transport them out of pocket. A year ago while transporting two drivers I was rear ended and my car was totalled. That moment my job changed. They didn't even ask if I was okay physically or financially. When I asked for just an advance to be able to put money down for a new vehicle since I was carless and in the hole with a lease (our drivers get advances daily), my boss claimed the company said no...and then offered me a cash loan out of his own pocket. After that came my first raise. They told me policy had changed and I would see it at 15 months rather than 12. A year later it is time for my second raise and I am told the same, 15 months. A fellow employee in my same position, there one year less than myself, let it slip she received hers at one year. When I confronted my boss with this and my opinion that it wasn't fair he said, "I am sorry you feel that way, it will be 15 months." That has came and went...it has now been 17 months. A promotion intended for myself due to seniority finally came available. With no write ups, or any formal talks, I was told I was not even allowed to apply. That I had recently been banned from promotion within the company because he had noticed I had been a few minutes late a few times. (Less than 10 minutes). Again no write ups, talks, marks on my record. Within the past six months, they have stripped away my holiday pay. They claim I no longer qualify since I am 7 days off, 7 days on, but for 2 years they allowed me to accrue holiday pay. Every day is a walk on eggshells. The entire office has noticed and I come to work in shame knowing I am in the hole $22,000 for a new vehicle, and despite my begging I've received one 50 cent raise within 2 1/2 years. I work for a national transportation company. Is this treatment okay? Acceptable? Normal? #maltreatment #propertyloss #lossofwages #legalhelp #discrimination
