Let's face it, as we get older and job circumstances change as they often do, we're faced with the challenge of what to do next. Most of us aren't prepared to hang our hat, give up the ghost or park our tenny's and spend the remainder of our working years parked on the porch wondering what we could have done differently.

Many of us have had incredible lives full of adventure, trauma, enlightenment, hard lessons and a myriad of other experiences that we could share. While growing up I was fascinated by the stories my grandfather would tell me about his home and childhood in Germany. I was mesmerized by some of the stories told to me by older clients when I worked as a Senior Protective Aid. I remember one client in particular who had been married to the same woman for 57 years and they lived in the same house for 53 of those. He was blind when I met him but he would sit on the porch and tell me stories about when he was the conductor for an all-female orchestra. They traveled all over the globe and when he retired from that he became an architectural engineering consultant and helped design and build bridges and dams all over the United States.

Do you have amazing stories to tell? Have you regaled friends and family about experiences you've had and lessons you've learned along the way? If that's the case, being a freelance writer may just be your thing and you can still sit on the porch without wondering if you could have done something differently.

There are many magazines that will pay writers for great content. I'm providing a link for those interested to peruse to see if this is an opportunity that might be just the thing for you!

Mindset Is Everything

When you've been searching for a job day in and day out and none of your efforts are successful, it's easy to become frustrated, depressed and angry. That sense of desperation begins to encroach on every thought and the domino effect can be devastating to to daily life and wellbeing. A negative mindset is like a heavy burden that weighs you down and wears you out.

You aren't alone I assure you. Most of us have been in that situation and some of us have struggled for way too long. It can lead to seriously harmful negative thought processes that culminate in the "nothingness" mindset. "Nothings going right for me, nothing is getting better, nothings ever going to change, nothing I do works out"... eventually you get depressed and start to feel like you have no hope. Yep, depression is the destroyer of hope. And, I'm sure we've all heard someone say "There's always hope" and immediately felt annoyed by their blissful ignorance because we sure as heck aren't feeling it.

I don't know if I would call it hope but I was in a very dark place myself and completely immersed in my "nothingness". Every day yielded zero results for my efforts and I was so over it. Then something came my way that helped change my thought process and my mindset and I'd like to share it.

During that time I happened to come across a story about someone who shared a plan she had made to help her just get through each day with enough determination to wake up the next day and do it again. She pointed out some of the simplest things she changed that helped make a difference in how she felt and those things carried her through until she finally found a job. She shared that it was the hardest thing she ever had to do but in short time, it worked out for her. She said that her defeatest mindset was her worst enemy and although it took a while, she began to feel a different sense of determination and her mindset began to change. After following her new routine for a couple of weeks, a job offer came along and set her on a path to feeling better about herself and the world around her. She shared that her mindset had almost destroyed her and she would have just missed that opportunity.

I couldn't find that story (it's been years) but I did find something that might be helpful. I know that her story helped me and I've shared it with others that needed to hear it. So today I'm encouraging you to turn off the TV, get up off the couch, go somewhere pleasant and peaceful and go to this website and see what it has to offer. It can't hurt to check it out.

I'm telling you the truth...(Casual Reading.)

If anyone told you that over the last 7 to 10 years it's been a piece of cake, identifying, searching, tracking and validating specific job types were a piece of cake, they told you wrong! Plus, you can take that strawberry off the top.

To quantify your work efforts, you have to use a systematic approach that provides for best solutions and results. Here are 7 Simple Steps to consider: Make sure your approach is...

  1. Memorable.
  2. Methodical.
  3. Procedural.
  4. Practical.
  5. Adaptable.

Develop a systematic approach for handling your business, and everything else will fall-in-place. (See illustration below.)

I'm telling you the truth...(Read Without Failure.)

One of the biggest propaganda messages you'll hear from others is..."Getting Jobs, It's Easy as 1-2-3, Go!

This is so NOT true. It is more complicated than you can imagine.

Don't let this happen to you.

I've been doing Personnel Management for years, and there are more angles in getting a job than a set of measuring tools on display.

The 5 step system of identifying, screening, interviewing, selecting and hiring has changed immensely.

Following-me for the inside "scoop" so you can get your foot in the door. Even if, it seems closed.

I Believe You Can...!!

And there is the life of perfection to which some, by God's special grace, are called, and which they embrace and fulfill. It was the latter life that Christ put before this young man.

From the 📖 of Ransom

My Thought of the day:

You received the love of God and then you grow in developing the love of God in your life and now you have come to the place of giving it to others.

  • Jesus said to them, “If you would be perfect [that is, have the spiritual maturity that accompanies godly character with no moral or ethical deficiencies], go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven." Matthew 19:21

I'm telling you the truth...(Must Read)

SCENARIO: A Fortune 500 Company has been seeking to fill a corporate position for approximately eight (8) months, and to no avail. On this very day Friday, they have interviewed nine(9) persons , and, three(3) others left because of fear. As the long day is winding down, let's listen to the last candidate after he walks in...

Mr. Charles, sir, we have rigorously screened nine(9) candidates ahead of you. Also, we have asked each person a series of the same questions, as we did with you. We would like to present the final question.

Mr. Charles, please tell us..."Why should we hire you for this corporate level position?

Ma'am, and to the board members..."that is why you should hire me for this corporate level position."

FAST FORWARD: As illustrated below, how did Mr. Charles respond to the question, and what did he say, to receive the Handshake of Approval?

LESSONS LEARNED: It's not who you know, or what you know that gets you the job, rather, it's truly who you are that makes the difference!

That's how you get the Handshake of Approval.

I Believe You Can...!

PENDING ACTIONS:

Many people have lived a Hollywood life with a smile on their face. Until the lights go out, and the cameras stop rolling, and the Film Director says..."no more Take 1, 2 or 33."

Between an acting career, and situations on the real stage of life, this is what you should know:

You can rewrite your script for the rest of your life.

TAKING ACTION:

  1. Decide what you want.
  2. Decide what you need.
  3. Decide who's in or out.
  4. Decide your level of happiness.
  5. Decide what's important or not.

Rewrite your script in life accordingly, and as you desire. Then, allow, everything to fall-in-place. (Heb. 11:1)

I'm telling you the truth...(Read Without Failure.)

Many people are caught in the "Mouse Traps of Life" because of their wrong attitudes. That happen to me years ago.

Don't let this happen to YOU!

An improper attitude without having all the facts can be costly, and you could miss out on greater things in life you deserve. (Prov.18:13)

In a mindset workshop, I asked if someone from the audience could hold my coat, while I loosen-up a bit.

Naturally, no one moved, because attitude speaks louder than words saying..."this is small and insignificant."

Surprisingly, a mother approached the platform with her daughter, and the girl holds the coat for about 15 seconds.

After my 10-12 jumping jacks, they walked away, and I quickly said, "thank you mom." By the way, this envelope in my coat pocket is for you.

The mother opened the envelope on stage, and behold...it was a $100 bill for about 15 seconds of effort.

Folks, sometimes, our attitude can cause us to misjudge people, places and things. Thus, we miss the small bites that could lead to better things in life. (See illustration below.)

Avoid this mouse trap of thinking, so things can change in favor for you.

I Believe You Can...!
