If you're a restaurant worker who is out of work due to a coronavirus shutdown, don't forget that unemployment was created exactly for situations like this and that it's high time to apply. Make sure you fill out the option for "Laid Off" when applying, and remember to put in all the jobs you have had in the time period that you are asked about, especially and even if you've had sporadic work. States should even have emergency money coming in soon, so now is the time to apply! #coronavirus #unemployment #layoff #foodservice

Terminated after 18+ years of dedicated service by an employers top management rep who ruled with fear rather than motivation. Too many details to go into however it’s taken about 2 years to fully recover from the loss. Loyal coworkers were devastated and to this day still post how things aren’t the same without my area leadership and motivation. When a leader of an organization contacts company lawyers to find out how to legally get rid of an employee, you know it’s not for lack of their skill, ability, or dedication. My recommendation to all is simple. Don’t give up, continue to move forward and realize that you are now just as valuable as you once were.
It will take some time but you will be better in the future than you were in the past. Then you can look back on the lessens learned.

I was laid off from a Job in March 2018 they recently posted the job again hiring 10 people I reapplied and was granted an interview but two weeks later I was told that they had found better qualified candidates! for a Job I literally did just over 1 year ago and for 3 years. I'm thinking there is more to it than that and I'm tempted to reach out to my old boss and ask him what happened, but I'm thinking it would probably be pointless. I found a job that I've been working, but it pays significantly less than my old job. I'm assuming the company has no requirement to rehire laid off workers, but it just doesn't seem right that they should do this to me I mean the interview was with my Old boss seems odd they would even waste my time with the interview if they had no intention of rehiring a displaced worker... anyway maybe I just needed to vent ,but I've been very confused and disappointed about this the last few days. #layoff #laidoff #rehire

My former supervisor submitted that I 'quit' when they forced me out and now I'm defending myself from potential fraud charges PLUS $15k in "overpaid" benefits and fines not to mention other punitive measures. I signed the agreement only because I thought I wouldn't have a problem getting a job. The person that signed the agreement with me is a superior to the supervisor who sabotaged me. I can't take much more of this. And when do I find all this out? A year later. Benefits issued. Taxes on those benefits paid in full. And me just starting my first fulltime job in a year after thousands of applications. i suppose i need to hire a damn attorney now. Any insight into the minds of the hearing judges and what the decision may be? And what recourse I have besides another appeal?

Also: I'm in CA. The "hearing" did not go well unless EDD appeals judges are normally aggressive and accusatory.

Who the hell gets a severance package after they quit their jobs? Am I losing my mind?

Hi y'all. I'm a pretty happy go lucky guy in my mid 50's. In August my company of almost 20 years terminated my management job with no warning. It was terminated due to a failing budget although I went thru worse with this company in the past. I received no severance just the rest of the week I was to work. I lost not only my job but my sick days 270 hours ,10 days of vacation and all my benefits such as short term disability, life insurance ,health insurance and my 403b was froze. I planned on retiring from this job and as bad as it got at times I loved it. I was promoted To it and worked very hard to be in a position most people would need a degree to get....which I don't have. I was in the dumps, angry, hurt and frustrated.i stil am reeling from this two months later. So there was good news though! After five weeks and a couple of unemployment checks later I get a lead on a job thru a relative. It was for a new manger in the service business. I was stoked when I got the interview and on cloud nine when I got the job. I really didn't want to go back to the trades and services business but the job paid slightly better then my old job and had company car and cell. I started the job and right away the entire shop of trademen filled my ears with the horror stories of the owner who was handed the buiness four years ago (family) It was quickly apparent this owner was jeckal and Hyde . No matter what went on he was never happy and really had no job for me. When I questioned my work day he got upset and said he had no time for me to train he was to busy. It's a long story but it came to a head and I had to resign. The daily mental anguish was taking a toll on me. So now I'm unemployed with no unemployment Check and a family to help provide for.I'm trying hard to cope and just needed to get this out. I'm working hard to get working. Money's running out and I feel hopeless and like I failed.

ISI was a good place to work for the employees there, everyone ruffle had the same amount of time in and when they pulled in temps, they didn't fit in so well (as the shop was mostly women + small cliques) As you could imagine, the backstabbing got quite outta hand!! Management said point blank "we are not getting involved" can you believe that. The production supervisor, who had more time than anyone, thought she had the boss'wrapped, but a new phase was implemented and I was promoted to 'programming supervisor' and she felt like I stepped on her toes (witch I didnt) She n I were sent to Texas to learn the machanics of the job. When we got back she found out she was pregnant and as it requires time off around her due date, she took extra time and when she returned with attitude because I trained others to do what she thought she was supposed to do,anyway...get this, she decided to sit in her office ( that looked out over the production floor) and do very little to nothing for the next 7 or 8 yrs, literally, an management did nothing about it.But in 2015 we all were informed our parent company was selling ISI and geuss who was the 1st to be let go, Her...and little by little everyone else were released w/severance pay, except myself an 1 other girl.We were told if the new owner kept us more than 30 days, basically our parent co. would be off the hook to pay her n I our severance pay. The new owner didn't have a game plan so she and I muttled around until 6/16 when we were told he was taking the company to the UK and we were welcome to come!He did not feel like he owed us severance because we only actually worked for him 1 yr. So my 20 of service was snubbed by my supervisors and parent co.An yes we felt like it was wrong, because we were kept on our own merit, we felt like ISI management did us completly wrong on that deal.I've lost touch with the other girl an don't know if she's working, but I haven't had any luck going thru the Temp co.and unemployment is only 26 weeks in my state, that was gone along time ago!! I feel like I did a good job for them and got a slap in the face for my efforts!!!!

I was laid off from my job 6 months ago and steadily looking for a full time job. Because I was laid off I have to start over pay wise. I'm looking for a "legitimate" work from home company for data entry work to supplement my income. I prefer to find one that is not a pyramid scheme where someone else makes money off of the work I do. Does anyone know of a "legitimate" company out there that offers data entry work from home?
