The other day, I posted about how working in an open plan office can be busy, loud, distracting, and stressful. Today, I want to post about the opposite. Working in a completely quiet office.

In a totally silent office every sound is magnified. You can hear every coworker's keystrokes, each shift in a chair, and heaven forbid any other noises! All day you may hear echoing footsteps, sighs, grunts, coughs, and muffled phone calls. It seems to me that sometimes too much noise can be just as distracting as too much silence.

I for one, once sat next to a self-confessed "snacker," who would eat chips all day at his desk. I would hear the bag open, then each grabbed handful, crunch, and satisfied sigh amidst the harsh silence.

If the silence and stark ambient sounds bother you, I would recommend the same solutions I would for a loud office: headphones/earphones/earplugs.

These tools can help keep you focused and productive while reducing frustration and stress. Remember to do whatever you can to make yourself comfortable in the workplace. After all, eight hours a day is a significant share of your time!

@Marisol Infante Employee reviews can be found on various websites dedicated to providing insights into workplace experiences. Glassdoor is a popular platform where current and former employees leave detailed reviews about their job roles, company culture, management, and work-life balance. Indeed also offers a similar feature, allowing employees to share their experiences and rate their employers. Comparably focuses on employee reviews, often highlighting specific aspects like compensation and company culture. Additionally, LinkedIn occasionally features reviews and insights within its company pages, contributed by employees and industry professionals. These sites offer narrative accounts that can give you a comprehensive understanding of what it’s like to work at a particular company.

Working at Burger King provided me with valuable experience in customer service, time management, and teamwork. It also helped me develop skills in problem-solving and multitasking. If you're feeling stressed, try focusing on the positive aspects of your job and seek support from your colleagues. When job searching, consider exploring opportunities not only on the Burger King career site but also on Jobcase and other job search platforms to broaden your options. Good luck!

I was once working in a fast-paced office in the media industry where a lot was at stake for our customers, our vendors, and the company itself. The owner of the company was very old, very gruff, and had one of the shortest tempers I've ever seen.

One afternoon, he raged at a senior coworker in the middle of the office for a minor misunderstanding regarding a superficial customer appreciation gesture that was not only superfluous, but easily corrected. My coworker remained calm, and promised to update their procedure.

A nearby department head stepped in and vouched for the employee, and the situation was diffused. However, the coworker took an early lunch, and came back with red eyes and a puffy, flushed face. I didn't know what to do, so I just proceeded about my day as if I didn't notice...

I regret not commiserating with them, but we really weren't very close, and the office was very formal with an open floorplan. I didn't want to embarrass them.

So, fellow Jobcasers, what would you have done?

¡Read Without Failure!

I'm telling you the truth...

Most likely, you've heard this saying over 1,001 times again and again. Right? That is...

"What you say with your mouth, has a tremendous impact of what's recreated in return. As a result, this life you subsequently live."

Once you say..."I can't find a decent job to save my life." Friends, I hope you live a long time, because your spoken words produce that truth.

Your negative words will minimize your efforts which may appear a bent or damaged nails.(See illustration below.)

Watch what you say!

I Believe You Can...!

The average person will apply for a job as follows...

  • Notice a job announcement at first sight.
  • Breeze through 10% of the job description.
  • Blink 10 times at the requirements at-hand.
  • Complicate matters with fear and doubt.
  • Then apply for the job at-a-glance.

Making the job yours means...Doing your due diligence beforehand, NOT after you Hit the ENTER key.

I Believe You Can...!

It's ridiculous that I'm 40 years old and can't get a job. I say job because career is obviously inevitable at this point because of my criminal history. I've always worked in the restaurant business because they don't do background checks. All these jobs that say they are equal opportunity is baloney! I was charged in 2012 with Involuntary Manslaughter. If anyone is familiar that means accident. I was on drugs and have had my life together since then. Unfortunately I am a victim of the opioid epidemic. A Dr prescribed me Percocet in my teens then just cut me off in my 20s. I didn't understand why I was sick until I had someone tell me your dope sick. I had no clue what that was but she told me heroin would make me feel better and it did. I struggled off and on for years. Then was the accident. I went to prison and boot camp. I came home in 2015 and did ok for awhile. I was on parole and then we lost our place to live. If you don't have an address for state parole u go to a halfway house and that was not an option I would not leave my son's. I then went off the grid and went back to jail, because of this I was resentenced in 2019. Now when places do background checks it looks like I was just in trouble for that so the 7 Year check back won't be up for 2 more years. I've put in so many applications and been on so many interviews but keep getting shot down regardless of how "Great" I am. Why do places say they hire felons and are equal opportunity when that's the biggest lie! If anyone can help with a job PLEASE #advice #stressful #jobsearch #equalopportunityisalie #Icanbarelyfeedmychildren #someonepleasehelp #hasthishappenedtou #anyjobsavailable #imputtingmyselfoutthere
