I was fired for refusing to perform tasks beyond my job scope without additional compensation. My refusal led to my termination, and now I wonder if there's a legal recourse for this. They even denied my PTO payout. Has anyone been through a similar situation? #Terminated #Uncompensated

Lucas was hired by a Seafood Packaging company in Seattle, this company sits right under the PSPCA and Ecology lookouts. They had no live SWPPP which is sadly pretty common for WA State. After putting his SWPPP together with all the bells and whistles he would need, he said no why man this is too big! lol I still laugh! #interview #termination #management #terminated #jobsearch #coworkers #advice

I worked for the city of Port St Lucie, Fla. as a project manager in the facilities department, I was terminated in month 8 of a 9-month probation period by a micromanaging narcissistic boss who is being protected by the city manager. This boss in question has lost 14 seasoned employees in 4 years due to his inability to perform as a actual manager, that's not counting the new hires that quit within 3 months, (if they only told you this on the interview) and he has a list of complaints (entire dept. went to HR) that should be logged in HR that have gone nowhere. Whereas I have NO HR incidents and I was not given my 3- and 6-month performance reviews to justify any actions, good or bad. I was given No reason for this wrongful termination other than it's in the best interest of the city, I have kept documentation on all of my projects since day one to back up my ability and workload. I sent a professionally written letter depicting the situation to the mayor and HR but yet nothing was done about it. This is such a frustrating situation to see a lousy manager making 120k a year and costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars in on-boarding costs per year be protected, I really liked working for the city in general and I planned to stay until retirement, life goes on and once again the little guy gets screwed. #terminated

There's a rule spoken about in hushed whispers throughout the trucking community - if anything bad happens, no matter who, what, when, where, or why...it is your fault. Not only your fault, but you are taught to predict the unpredictable, which that alone is an oxymoron, but I digress.
I stopped trucking for Schneider National the same time I stopped trucking altogether, in the early months of 2019 - when I crashed and jackknifed in a ditch...but let's rewind a week prior. It was in the dead of winter and just like any other year around the same time, I was struck with a nasty sickness, and I was out cold for a week. This left Schneider none-to-happy with me, as I also had a full trailer that was just sitting there, far enough away from any other trucker that could deliver the load for me. So, while I sat out sick as a dog, it too, sat.
The day I felt better, I was getting ready to start my long days again, but outside, I noticed something - there was a blizzard, snow blowing so hard you couldn't even see the lines of the road, and this isn't an exaggeration or stretch of the imagination, it was so bad, nearly nobody was out on the road that day, but I was being pressured (rather heavily, might I mention) to deliver this load anyway. I've sat out long enough...so out I went, trying my best to follow the road, based on slightly-visible tire tracks left behind from a previous vehicle.
By some kind of miracle, I made it to the destination, and the trailer was unloaded. The next pickup comes through and it's over 100 miles out, and because I'm so far out, there's also not another truck stop for about 75 miles. The location I'm at won't let me stay, so off I go.
The snow had melted some, so I could see the road better now, but I was so uncomfortable that I decided the next gas station I find, I'll try to find a spot to park, this load will just have to wait, but before I could find that gas station, I had my accident. To be clear, I was going 20 miles below the speed limit, but I was also carrying an empty trailer, during a very windy winter day, while there was also black ice all over the road. A slight gust of wind hits the trailer, and it pushes me to the side, breaks don't really respond thanks to the ice, and the trailer jackknifes to the drivers side of the window, just inches away from taking me out - but I end up unscathed, and because everyone else was smarter than me, nobody was on the road that day, and so nobody was hurt, either.
At the end of the day, I was terminated because I should have known better than to go out that day...I of course...did know better, but as I mentioned before, I was also pressured to go out anyway. Trucking was an experience of a lifetime. I saw some beautiful things, learned some amazing things along the way, but I'll never go back to that lifestyle. They expected the impossible, and at the end of the day, what happened happened, but as it turns out..even when you predict the unpredictable, you're punished. #termination #terminated #trucking #truckdriving #SchneiderNational

I am just totally numb. I was just fired this morning because quote "We need someone to work Full-time as a Legal Assistant. Your an amazing worker & you gave 110%. " So I got a letter of reference, and my last check and that was that. Strangely I was hired 6 almost 7 months ago for a part-time position (20-28 hrs a wk), as a Receptionist. I went up from Receptionist to Office Assistant/Receptionist/Sort of Legal Assistant. I was never fully trained, as co-workers would not fully train me. It's like they didn't want me to know how to be a Legal Assistant? I might add they hired someone at the first of this month, and she has only made it to work 6 days the ENTIRE month. Also from what I gathered she is taking over my position. Hmmm. She will need training TOO. Idk. maybe I dodged a bullet. But where I live white collar jobs are hard to come by....Just feels like a HUGE waste of my time. #terminated

I applied for a job. I had to go through clearance. (Physical, drug test, finger printing etc….) I did everything I needed to do. 3 days later I got a call to start training! I was happy, I got the job!! After 2 weeks of training, I started working. Everything was GREAT! But then… A few months later I was terminated! They said something showed up on my background check! Mind you, these were back in my younger days. They all been dismissed/expunged back in 2011! Now my question is… was I wrongfully terminated? Why would they call and hire me, if I wasn’t in the clear yet? Wouldn’t it be best if they waited for my background check results to come in before they call me to come in for an interview and before I start training? I felt used!! #terminated #termination #advice #backgroundcheck

How did you go about it? Did you do it professionally? Or was it an elaborate hurrah?!
No judgment either way, just interested in hearing some stories 😉

I lost my job and looking for anything right now. I am a Sr. Level Executive Assistant/Office Manager. Praying for those of you in the same situation. Be safe. #coronavirus #workfromhome

I was fired because I called a co-worker b*tch and this violated the respect in the workplace policy- never mind that said co-worker had been harassing me for six months and violated federal law! I made my supervisors aware of this, and still had to work with the co-worker; until I had reached the end of my "rope". On top of that the employer appealed my unemployment claim and won, and at my age no-one wants to hire me. What can I do?
