Are you a current elementary school teacher looking for extra $$$ or perhaps a retired teacher?

Twinkle is looking for a Content Writer to create educational resources geared towards 1st/2nd grade!

This is a work from home role

Salary: $15.00 per hour Contract: Self-employed contractor /15 hours per week. Sixth-month contract with extension possible.

About the role

As a 1st/2nd Grade Content Writer creating standards-aligned educational resources for U.S. educators, you will create innovative, engaging new printable and digital teaching resources to address key curriculum objectives that meet the needs of those who teach across the United States. The content you write will be turned into professional Twinkl products by our highly skilled design and illustration team.

You will be part of an agile working team that communicates via email, messaging, and video meetings. To fulfill this role, you will need to provide your own technology and have reliable high-speed internet access.

It can be challenging to complete this role while working another full-time job; therefore, we suggest that only part-time workers apply for this role. You will need to complete 15 hours per week, every week.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

Writing grade-aligned content for ELA, math, science, social studies, and other curriculum areas, as required. Researching educational resource trends for your designated grades to ideate new resources that will be instant hits with our millions of global members.

Requirements:

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Show a creative, innovative, and tech-driven approach to teaching and learning.
  • Take pride in your excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management, organization, and technology skills.

Must haves

  • Certified U.S. elementary teacher (license must be in good standing)
  • Experienced classroom teacher with a minimum of two years of recent experience in a 1st or 2nd-grade classroom setting.

About the role

The Copywriter is responsible for writing compelling copy for web and email to support online events, program launches, and other projects as needed. Assigned tasks may include:

  • Writing and editing website content from a product brief to support online webinars
  • Drafting articles from transcripts of web events
  • Developing articles for the Cornell Chronicle to announce new programs and other newsworthy items
  • Writing press releases, including drafting and sourcing quotes
  • Developing messaging for new programs
  • Working with internal teams to draft case studies and customer success stories
  • Creating engaging social media content
  • Assisting other departments and initiatives with copywriting needs as required.

Requirements of the role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What you will do/who you are

  • Day-to-day responsibilities include pitching and writing original reported beauty and wellness stories and trend pieces about topics in skin care, makeup, hair, and body care.
  • A passion for beauty and wellness and an innate ability to trendspot in the fields are crucial.
  • Examples of the kinds of articles you’d work on include an interview with brand founder Chana Ginelle on inclusivity in the industry; this fall hair trend piece; and this service piece on what chapped lips could mean.
  • The majority of stories will require the writer to find sources, conduct phone interviews, and cite peer-reviewed studies. A network of industry contacts and go-to experts (think dermatologists, estheticians, and trichologists) is a plus.
