My brother in law went on an interview for a position at his dream company... though the position was a little bit "junior" compared to some of his other work on his resume, he was SO thrilled to be applying for the job.
He crushed the entire interview only to be met with "well, we think you're overqualified."
He wants to write back and try and persuade them into giving him a second interview.
Any thoughts on specific advice I should give him??

My friend works in a customer service role and wants to ask for a raise. She has been working her tail off and is often getting called out for her positive demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond for her customers. She has been with this company for a little over 2 years.
I gave her some advice on how to approach the situation, but I wanted to see what you all thought?
What advice would you give someone who wants to ask for a raise?

The first thing I learned at my first internship was to accept constructive criticism. I found this article very helpful to walk through the steps of handling constructive criticism.
I also want to share my personal tips:
- Be proactive to ask for constructive feedback: I find it helpful to ask for feedback upfront instead of waiting to receive it. It sets the table that you’re willing to improve and people would recognize it and be more gentle with their tone.
- Don’t take anything personally: it’s hard to control emotions sometimes if it’s a project you feel deeply invested in. This definitely takes practice but helps so much with emotional intelligence and professionalism for the long run.
What are your experiences giving or taking feedback? Any tricks to handle the criticism?
