First of all, every manager had to have a first shot at managing people. You are simply looking for your first opportunity.
The good news is you can use past experiences as reasons why you are ready to take on more of a leadership role.
For example,
Have you led a project?
Mentored anyone?
Brought a brand-new employee up to speed?
Given recurring advice to colleagues?
Led meetings?
Guess what? If you did one or more of those things effectively and WANT to manage people, then you are certainly ready.
Most of the leadership refinement occurs as you lead. You'll learn from your mistakes just like in other areas of your professional life.
Besides, good managers are not constantly on top of their direct reports...micromanagers do that.
You want to be in a position to let people thrive. It's as simple and as complicated as that.

I was laid off in 4/2020 due to C-19. I have been applying on almost every employment site with no luck. I have a lot of experience in the commercial and industrial HVAC industry, traveled the world as factory technical representative, and operated mechanical contracting business in a 50/50 partnership. Unfortunately, I cannot run service any longer due to physical restrictions, but my knowledge and work ethic(leadership skills) are my greatest assets.
