After enduring a harrowing ordeal of harassment and a toxic work environment that left me emotionally distressed and physically unwell, I made the difficult decision to resign from my job recently. The relentless stress, resulting in frequent tears, debilitating headaches, and stomachaches, forced me to take mental health days just to cope. Despite my struggles, my boss not only disregarded my well-being but also penalized me unfairly, withholding my remaining PTO and accusing me of misconduct I did not commit.
In the face of such unjust treatment, I took a stand by filing a formal complaint with the state and sharing my experience online. However, instead of acknowledging the issues at hand, my former boss resorted to gaslighting and denial, dismissing my valid grievances as falsehoods. His attempts to manipulate the narrative and tarnish my reputation have only added to the distress I have already endured.
Now, in a final attempt to assert control, my ex-boss is persistently requesting a meeting to discuss my online review and the collection of my last paycheck, a departure from the usual direct deposit method. Given the history of mistreatment and manipulation, I am hesitant and frankly, feel unsafe engaging in any further communication or in-person meetings with him. The continuous gaslighting and attempts to discredit me, including stigmatizing my disability, have left me with no desire to subject myself to further distress.
In light of these circumstances, I firmly believe that I owe him no further explanation or engagement. My decision to leave was a result of intolerable conditions that no one should have to endure, and I stand by my choice to prioritize my well-being and dignity. Moving forward, I aim to focus on my own healing and growth, leaving behind a toxic environment that no longer serves me, but I am still struggling on what to do about him wanting to meet. I want to respond and tell him that I don’t feel comfortable please just mail out my last paycheck but I don’t know what to do. #motivation #toxicenvironment #toxicboss #mentalhealth

How do you fight against unhealthy thoughts?
Negative thinking can contribute to problems such as social anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem. The key to changing your negative thoughts is to understand how you think now (and the problems that result), then use strategies to change these thoughts or make them have less of an effect.
"Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all linked, so our thoughts impact how we feel and act. So, although we all have unhelpful thoughts from time to time, it’s important to know what to do when they appear so we don’t let them change the course of our day.
Take a look at what Linda has to say to manage your negative thoughts. This is the year to focus on our Mental Health! #MentalHealth #Awareness #Selfaware #NegativetoPositive #Selfimprovement #Motivation

Tuesday tip of the week: Being open about your mental health IS authenticity in the work place.

Tuesday tip of the week: When people or companies talk about values, pay attention to how they action them. Values should be verbs.

Tuesday tip of the week: Whenever I feel anxious, I qualify my feeling with a for now statement. “I feel overwhelmed by (fill in the blank) for now”. It’s a tooI learned early in therapy to help me find quick relief.

Think about the best boss you ever had. What did they do to make your work life better?
I've had bad bosses, and great ones. The best ones have:
- Asked how I'm feeling and if there's anything they can do to support
- Set clear goals/expectations
- Taught me along the way
- Avoided micromanaging
What were the qualities of your #BestBoss? What's your story? #watercooler #mentalhealth #qualityoflife

Hi to all my peeps in this group. I just wanted to check in and send my support in this difficult time. I think this is a particularly hard time to get support as providers, social workers, psychologists, etc are forced to shut down or go to virtual sessions. So, if you do need support, I encourage you to post here -- together we've got this!
I am so sorry that you are facing those struggles Raven. Sending you one giant hug!! Are you seeing anyone for your depression? I ask because I have suffered from depression before myself and sometimes it can help to talk to someone. It doesn't have to be a therapist it could even be a close friend or family member. As for jobs, are you able to complete tasks alright? What about if you worked from home? Would that be helpful? Let me know, I am here!!
