I have had several phone interviews in the past few weeks. One in particular has me very upset. I spoke with someone interviewing for " company x". The interview went great. She told that I was what the company was looking based on skills I possess. She told me I would be receiving information on when to come in for a face to face interview. She wanted to know when will I be able to start and we even discussed salary. I was excited. After a week of waiting I tried to reach out to" Ms. Y", I received an email from their hiring agent stating that the company went with someone else. Needless yo say I was devastated. I kept wondering what I do wrong. I never got the invitation to the second interview. This had happened to me twice so far. Is this a new trend with companies? Or am I expecting too much from a phone interview. Please let know your thoughts. Thanks, Kim S

I read these posts on here. I have been looking for months. I have lost my home I cannot afford any bills. I can't even put gas in my car and thank God I own that. People talk about hold your head up high there's more out there for you move ahead. Well that's easier said than done. I have looked for months and that one thing. I can't even afford to go to school cuz I don't have nowhere to live I have two sons and one is autistic. Now you tell me how can I keep my head held high you can't that's why I'm just done.

I am to the point of breaking. I have been looking for 5 months and living off my savings but that is running out. I have applied to a ton of places either I don't hear anything or I hear that I am qualified but they are going in a different direction. It's not like I have applied for just one type of job. I have a good work record and meet the qualifications for everything I apply for. I have had 3 interviews in all this time. One was a scam job, one couldn't tell me exactly what I would be doing but paid only commission and the 3rd had me working 50-60 hours 6 days a week and I would make less then 20k a year as well as use my own car and pay for any travel they had for me.I have management qualifications security 2 degrees computer back ground. I feel like I am at a breaking point. I have a 10 year old daughter to support and if seems like there is nothing for me.

Hello Community,

I would love to hear some experiences or insights related to the following situation: about two months ago, I submitted an application for a role in a company that is doing incredible work in the solar industry. It's perfectly aligned with my skills and experience and it would be an amazing opportunity to help grow something that is very important to me. Two weeks ago I received an email from an HR assistant asking for availability for a phone interview. I submitted the information and then...nothing - no reply. After 5 days, I sent a brief follow up to confirm they received my submission and I still haven't heard back. This is the first time I've had to look for a job since 2003, and I'm unsure of the appropriate next steps. I've considered reaching out to someone in the local office (the company is based in California, but the role would be in North Carolina). I've also considered just sitting on my hands and waiting it out. Does anyone have experience with a similar situation who could provide a suggestion as to the best way to proceed?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

I relocated from NY to GA, gave up my home, friends and family to accept a once in a life position (so I thought) only to be terminated 5 weeks later. I have actively looked for positions in the medical field; I am a certified medical assistant and phlebotomist. I have extensive front and back office experience as well as a law enforcement background (retired Corrections)... WHY WHY WHY can I not even get a response from a potential employer, no interviews, no interest at all!! I have sent at least 100 resumes and cover letters without any success. I am so despondent and I don't know what else to do. I suspect age may possibly have something to do with it but I just don't have any answers...can someone PLEASE enlighten me...I am so miserable here and returning toNY is a remote thought (I've rented my home out to a tenant) since I have no where to go and no funds to return..,,I desperately need help

I have applied to 20 places or more in my area. No one has called me. I have went in for one interview and that job was given to someone else. I am to the point where I don't know what to do. I am running out of time to start saving up for my senior expenses. School starts in a month. I feel like giving up.

On Thursday night 6/22 around 7:00pm, I was contacted by a company for a job. This was an emergency situation. Their graphic designer would just leave whenever she felt like it and decided to take a vacation just a week before their annual magazine was going to print. So they had a deadline to meet. They asked if I could come in on Friday or Saturday. I came in on Friday with a very short notice.

I worked with them from Friday 6/23 till Wednesday 6/28 to make the deadline. While working with them, they were discussing some other business with me and possibly full time employment. On Wednesday night (6/8) they were going out of town to meet with the printer and would be returning on Saturday night (7/1).

I didn't hear from them on Sunday so I called the owner on Monday, 7/3 around 9:00am. He answered and said "Allan I'm really busy right now. Can you call later"? I figured I'd call around 2:00pm. That gives him time to get some work done and finish lunch. So I called him and left a voice message. Of course I didn't expect to hear from him during the holiday. I called him today (7/5) and left a voice message. I still haven't heard back from him. Any suggestions?
