I'm telling you the truth...(Read before 2023.)

Some people say, there's possibly 52 cards in a deck. A few good analysts could interpret this differently, and say...you have 52 different paths to bring your dream to life.

They say, 52 is the average number of weeks in a normal year. Right? Even though the true number of weeks in a year, to the exact decimal point, is 52.143 weeks.

Listen carefully, if you want to be free in 2023, EVERYTHING depends on how you play the cards in your hand.

That determines how you win. It's either by...

  1. Other people's opinion.

OR

  1. Your best optimism.

Legendary Frank Sinatra said "I did it my way." You can too.

I Believe You Can...!

I requested 2 hours off to take care of some business and only used one hour of time. Supervisor notices it and decide that she is going to subtract my overtime from a different day and the one hour I didn't uses from my time card. Calls and said I correct your time card. Asked what correction? Supervisor said I took 1.5 hours and put it back in your PTO. Looks and notices that my overtime is gone. Calls and tell her that is incorrect. The response I get is, I figure you would like to keep it instead of using it. Will the overtime is what I worked and the extra hour I can leave early. She had to correct my time card 3 times before it was right. If it ain't broken don't fix it. #drama

So I have a hum dinger of a situation on my hands, passing on what has happened to me so someone else does not make the same mistakes I did. Okay so for the past 6 months, I have seen jobs that are in my field, that are right in my educational and skill set background, posted by an agency in Montana for the state of Montana. I am presently not there but I have been trying to relocate there because I have family there, one of my cousins works at the Governors office. Not that I have used that little nug of info, because I would rather get somewhere on my own steam, not because of my cousin or family name. (My first mistake, should have used it because I really wanted to work at this agency and had I, what happened may not have happened.) Regardless, I know right from the start I have an uphill battle because I am not there. I get it and accept it. I eat Wheaties, laughs, I am up for the challenge.

So after far too many rejection letters, and not giving up, I had 8 separate applications in for different positions, all under the same agency in several departments at that time. I am tenacious, I admit it. I grew up on a cattle ranch I am use to getting kicked, tossed and stomped by horses, I don't give up. Laughs.

My tenacity pays off and I get called last week for an interview. I was so excited that I missed the name of the lady who called me for the interview and she did not name the specific department or the position. We set up a zoom interview for a week later, on the following Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and she said she would send me a link for the interview. This is SOP (standard operating procedure) for a zoom interview post pandemic. I wait and no email. Tuesday rolls around and still nothing. I am starting to get nervous, no link, is there tech issue, what is happening? I have no idea who to call (my own fault, I should have made sure I had her name, I own it, my bad) or what position or department because she did not tell me which one, so looking on the portal does no good. I have 8 apps in, so I can not be proactive. I am just stuck and have to wait. MT is very laid back, I am thinking it will show Wednesday. Nothing arrives. Thursday, the morning of the interview, I am in panic mode, no link and an interview in 30 minutes, that I was more than eager and ready to do. So I send an email to the Agency Director, because I figure he could tell me who to talk to. It is 8 departments in this agency, I can go to the top, flip a quarter or send 8 emails. Path of least resistance, go to the top. I leave a message. 8:30 comes and goes no email with link, no call back yet. So 8:40 I head out to try and salvage another interview I put off, to have that zoom interview. I get home at 11:30 a.m. to an email that had been sent at 8:47 a.m. that says "are you going to bother to show up for your interview" with the link. I am floored when I see this. Clearly she was able to make contact and send the link, so maybe tech issue, I just don't know. I don't think she is evil and undermining. She had a whole week prior to that, to do so. For me the first email she had sent me that I had gotten was snide, had the link and was 17 minutes after the interview. I then see another email, where the tone is she is put out to have to ask, and asking to reschedule my "missed interview". I am upset at this point. Not getting a link sounds like a cop out, granted it is true, I never got one, but that is what it sounds like, an excuse. I am at this point, laboring under some delusion this was a tech glitch. I would not have hired someone after a missed zoom interview, who would? I accept that this missed interview has basically affected all 8 other applications. I am humiliated! I have to accept that my first impression has been made by my not getting link and missing an interview. Hard pill to take but I stick a straw in my little juice box and suck it up. As hard as it is for me to give up, I may as well save everyone time and withdraw all of my other applications. #commonsense #tryandsavesomeface So I tell her that I never got the link and my not getting it and missing the interview has made my first impression for me. I then advise her I will be withdrawing all of my other applications. I feel like my back is against the wall, I am humiliated. I send the email and get on the portal and I doing exactly what I said I was doing. The Deputy Director of the agency calls me for the director over my call and leaves a message. I am horribly upset, I have just withdrawn all my applications because of no link and her email - "are you going to show up". I feel like her email was very unprofessional. I return the call and I explain what I wanted and he tells me, she assured me that she sent it. He is under some idea she had sent it before the interview which she had not. So did she send it, Yeah she did, 17 minutes after the interview. So things came into focus real quick at that point, this was NOT a tech issue, she just did not send the link. I don't know why but she did not until 17 minutes after the fact. So not only did this lady just annihilate any chance I had, she sent a snide email and then she lied about it. So me withdrawing was MY only option because they think I just missed a Zoom interview because she lied. So moral of my story... 1- if you have a connection with someone do NOT have pride, integrity and a delusion you can stand on your own ... use the connection. 2- NEVER get excited, write it down, wait until you are off the phone and have all the information before you get excited. 3- Be proactive, if you have not gotten a link 72 hours after the initial set up, touch base. Making sure there is not tech issues is smart policy. 4- NEVER assume that anyone, even state employee HR people, have ethics and integrity, act on the side of caution and keep your ducks in a row. Not everyone is bad but there are bad ones. #interview #drama #montana

I have worked for a nursing home facility since January of 2016 and was recently fired because I got 3 write up's for being late 3 weeks before I was fired the bosses daughter would constantly rant over how she wished she could work my position which was one 8 hour shift and 2 shifts that where 16 hours making my 40 hour work week in 3 days which meant I was off 4 day's a week and I loved it never had any complaints from patient care or any other errors on my part. I recently worked our COVID-19 unit and the second wave of COVID-19 took out a bunch of our residents I started depression medication and anxiety and sleeping aids to help with what I was going through mentally from what I was recently encountering on the job from my psychiatrist the adverse reactions of these meds where sleeping heavily there for causing me to wake up late at times because I only took my insomnia medication and sleep aid as needed and depression medication you can't just take as needed the it's constant to work effectively, my job then complained about me being different because the depression medication effect everyone differently which I can't help to each their own. So after me 3rd write up for being late over a 6 year period and med change I was fired the 3rd write mind you I have never been in any serious trouble at work as a nurse I know my role and what needs to be done. I filed unemployment because after the second write up I was told since the sleeping meds and anxiety meds where causing me to overly sleep they would change my shift to evening shift so it would better occomidate me and my needs because I was open and honest with them about it ALL so they where VERY aware well guess what instead of changing my shift like was discussed by management they fires me instead of a suspension and shift change like I previously stated I've never been in trouble and can't understand why they would just fire me instead of helping a loyal employee and single parent through a rough patch they where aware of. So I filed unemployment with my psych doctors notes and a list of medication and diagnosis unemployment told me that they basically can not fore me for that because it's firing .e for a medical condition. So when I got my depiction back unemployment approved and the company approved it after unemployment stated I had prior documentation and they where wrong 3 days later I get a updated decision from unemployment saying the company that writes the checks and handles finances for the facility is denying my unemployment, so I'm appealing it and found out from coworkers still employed there that her daughter who wanted my shifts now has them what a suppose right? So basically what I'm asking is am I right? Has this happend to anyone else? After 6 years of dedicated work and evacuating for hurricanes with the facility the facility to help and wading through knee high water for one particularly hurricane woth no electricity and a generator to take care of these people, I got thank you for 6 years of service and help or nothing. So now here I am waiting to hear what unemployment says anyone's thought or experience with a situation like this? #healthcare #coronavirus #stressful #drama #advice #texas #canyourelate #aboutmyjob #termination

This might be to much after the fact but did they give you a verbal warning, a written warning and then a final “you will be fired” letter? If they didn’t give you the opportunity to correct the issue, you might be able to fight it from that angle. I was the CEO and Administrator for a Hospital that had a TCU on one floor that required me to get my Health Facility Administrator license just for that floor, so I understand the stresses that come with working in that area of health care. I have always told my subordinates that if an application for any job ever worked as a CNA for a year or more…they are worth hiring even if you have to train them…that field (RN or CNA) is one of the most physically and mentally challenging jobs around.
I had to terminate several employees over the years there and never lost a case but it was because I had documented all my efforts to correct the issue…if they did not do that, they are open to firing you without cause and nepotism. Unfortunately, Unemployment due to health reasons is a hard fight. One requirement is you have to be “ready and available” for full time work while collecting unemployment and looking for work. My spouse had to quit job due to carpel tunnel and we had to prove she was only limited related to repetitive tasks with her hands but could do other work…it was a complicated process and she was denied several times before we were able to get all the documents together, including the most important letter from her doctor stating she was only limited by repetitive task but can do any other kind of work. They ended up paying for her to be retrained for another type of job but then Vocational Rehab stepped in and funded equipment for her own business that worked around her health issues. So if your still fighting unemployment, you might want to check out Voc-rehabilitation to see if you can retrain you for a job in (or something different) nursing that is more consistent with your health concerns. Don’t neglect your mental health for a job, if you broke your leg you would have to find work that accommodates it…but with mental health it’s easy to ignore…but depression can be more debilitating than a broken bone. Before going into Hospital Administration I worked as a Paramedic in a Level 1 Trauma Center and Life Flight for many years…I ignored the signs of PTSD until it almost cost me my life…don’t take your depression and possible PTSD from those working conditions lightly…

I know that’s a lot more info than you ask for :). Sorry but I get really angry when the world treats mental health like it’s not a real illness but just “in your head” and you should be able to “get over it”…in Medical School (Didn’t ever practice after a Dx of Lymphoma just before my residency) I spent maybe 3 months in one class on mental health…it’s so misunderstood in the general medical community and the general population. However your unemployment case goes, please take care of your mental health as if your life depends on it, as it might.

Tie between the bomb threat where the boss made me go back in with the police to show them the lockers and at lunch one day when I was held at gunpoint in an armed bank robbery.
