I was laid off in 4/2020 due to C-19. I have been applying on almost every employment site with no luck. I have a lot of experience in the commercial and industrial HVAC industry, traveled the world as factory technical representative, and operated mechanical contracting business in a 50/50 partnership. Unfortunately, I cannot run service any longer due to physical restrictions, but my knowledge and work ethic(leadership skills) are my greatest assets. Employers are commenting on how impressive my resume is but they chose another candidate. This is the most common reply from employers. God forbid you answer the question positively a "Protected Veteran" because you can forget getting hired. Or, rather, if you've been disabled in any way, shape of form, ever, mentally or physically, or having to do with hearing. They trick you into answering these questions so they can vet you out of their candidates. I think resumes should have a spot for just adding your age so you can save the company you're applying to and yourself a whole lot of time and frustration. I can't tell you how many interviews I've showed up to, how many emails I've received from companies that are very interested in me then find out how old I am or that I am considered a "protected Veteran" and that's the end of our conversations or they flat out tell me they can't hire me due to my age or my disability status.
